Orbx KATL is about to revolutionize scenery

Featured Replies

Watched a few streamers showcase it yesterday and the performance so far looks terrible, not very well optimized.

Hope they get that fixed before release.

It's not drama, it's a joke. Humour does not travel well, especially here.

Great. This is how standards get lowered. Maybe pigeon droppings don't matter to YOU. Just understand that there are serious simmers for whom this is essential because they know and follow real-w

Lol.  I do wonder how the performance will be.  The default one instantly gives me the resource message.

I'm of the belief that the handcrafted version is better than the imaginesim version. Based on the pictures of this new version I can't for the life of me how you guys somehow do not see it being a massive improvement. Of course the true sell will come down to its performance. But assuming it's good, this will render the other ATL versions obsolete. I probably fly in and out of ATL 50-70 times a year in real life. So I will appreciate it for sure.

The most impressive part to me was the way Mateo was able to handle the different terrain and elevations that make KATL a unique airport. Lighting looks very good. We will know if it performs well or if it works with BATC when it's finally released.

The default did not work well with BATC.

MSFS

MSFS 2024 is an incredibly heavy sim to run. I have 5 GPUs with 4 of them being 16GB VRAM or lower, and I get the resource usage warning on all 4 unless I dramatically decrease resolution and/or settings. The 5th one is the 5090 which is my main GPU, and obviously no issues there.

Whether that's warranted or whether it is poorly optimized by Asobo is a different discussion, but that's just the reality of the situation.

Pointing being, if you have a mid range system that already struggles with the vanilla sim, then of course adding a bunch of highly detailed addons will further kill your performance. It's not surprising.

Lmao is this a joke? You have 5 GPU’s? Are they all 1060s or something like that?

Because the scenery team over at Gaya forgot to give IDs to the Taxiways.

It's also an issue with the default ATC, and any other ATC program that uses the scenery files for airport info.

You would think that Gaya Simulations would have returned to correct that mistake. Oh, wait.......I was forgetting that they never do that.

No, it's not a joke. I'm a hardware reviewer.

Obviously a tribute to the BAe 146 which, as we all know, is the only airplane with 5 APUs.
