May 12May 12 Hello Mates, Is there a way to suppress the reflections of the instruments on the glass of the cockpit. It disturbs me, especially in night flying. FS2024
May 12May 12 I would love to be able to do this too. Not on all aircraft, just the ones that are really overdone. The Airfoillabs Bristell B23 has insane reflections on the canopy, that can really distort your view from the right (or should I say wrong!) angle. I'm guessing it would be necessary to locate the reflection file (a texture or effect, I'm not sure?) and remove it. But I haven't found an easy way to do anything with these KTX2 files in 2024. I used to edit tons of texture files in 2020 but gave up with 2024 because there were too many conversions needed between file types; that all had to be set very precisely. I tried and failed! May 12May 12 This is one of those areas that needs an option to turn off and/or adjust to a users preference, whilst it may be realistic it doesn't work that great especially when using a monitor to fly. Using VR it can also be a hindrance with reflections but us VR users can "look through" them to some degree (unless they're too strong in certain situations where they perhaps shouldn't be), it's certainly something I've noticed in some aircraft. It's the same thing as Halos in car racing Sims, they were originally solid which made it hard to race but human eyes in a real cockpit look "through" them, so the Devs of various Sims listened and added a Transparency Option to make it easier to look through. Compromises are sometimes needed where required. May 12May 12 Some aircraft addons have the ability to toggle reflections on and off. I know that for a fact in re X-Plane, if not for MSFS(?). I generally do it because it saves a few FPS and is generally overdone, IMHO. BUT, it IS a great reminder to minimize lighting intensity at darker times of day 🙂
May 12May 12 I used to have this same issue until I FINALLY found this solution: https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com/t/windshield-reflection-intensity-not-working/16987/22 I can confirm that setting Raymarched Reflections to Medium makes it workable.
May 13May 13 I'm have to check my settings later, but to have to lower a graphical setting to workaround a problem means you're losing out on raymarched reflections elsewhere, further highlights my point above about a specific option in this case. No more reflections in the glass of the cockpit. You made my day. Many thanks and much appreciated. Of course, Raymarched Reflection is also removed in other areas but honestly by looking around the cockpit and the aircraft, I have not noticed anything. Spending the vast majority of the time in the cockpit, this solution is perfect to me at this time. FS2024
May 13May 13 "Raymarched Reflections to Medium" I discovered this trick years ago and was going to share it yesterday, but got busy and forgot to post. I'm glad someone else shared the secret of getting rid of those annoying vc reflections. MSFS
