NASA 747 Shuttle Carrier

Recommended Posts

Has anyone seen or done this mod for FS2002 or FS2000 ??? Talk about wing loading -- this would be an awesome model to fly. If there's a good Edwards AFB, you could take the 747 up to altitude and select [change aircraft] then fly the shuttle to a landing. SO HERE'S THE CHALLENGE IN ALL ITS GLORY:

Thanks, but is there a flyable space shuttle for FS2002? I know X-Plane has one, if ya like X-Plane. You know, the shuttle was originally supposed to have mountable jet engines so it could fly back to Florida from an Edwards AFB landings on its own power. But NASA ditched that in favor of having a 747 carrier aircraft. The Russians went ahead with the mountable jet idea (as shown below). If you were flying in a av-community, seeing a space shuttle fly past you would be quite weird, eh?

>Thanks, but is there a flyable space shuttle for FS2002? Yes, it's at flightsim.com, complete with sounds, etc. shutpac2.zipSee also:shtlng.zipOV-103.ZIP747shut.zipUsing the 'search' feature really isn't all that difficult... :)

Sarcasm, great. Looking for FS2002 stuff, not FS95/98 stuff. No one's done any work in this area for 4 freaking years? Flightsim.com has been congested for 2 days now -- almost impossible to get in. And all searches of "shuttle" pull up 12 pages of commuter planes and puddle jumpers - ARG! Where's a flyable Buran?

Who says you can't go for a cross-country in a space shuttle?

>Sarcasm, great. Looking for FS2002 stuff, not FS95/98 >stuff. No one's done any work in this area for 4 freaking >years? No, that was not 'sarcasm,' it's called a 'subtle hint that you can do a search yourself, instead of depending on someone else to do it for you.'With the exception of the last file cited, all of the others listed have been updated to work with FS2k2. Granted, they aren't GMax or FSDS2 models, but they will work.If you were to look at the total number of downloads for any of 'em though, you'd have a better idea of why no one has invested the hundreds of hours needed to craft a worthy model! Why would any developer invest four to six months of time for such a tiny response (relatively speaking, of course!).>Flightsim.com has been congested for 2 days now -- >almost impossible to get in. And all searches of "shuttle" >pull up 12 pages of commuter planes and puddle jumpers - >ARG! Where's a flyable Buran? The 'search function' - like all such engines - will find matches for all qualifying words. Narrow the search by using a boolean function, such as 'space' & 'shuttle'...Also, you might have better luck using a dogpile.com or google search, in which case you'd want to further restrict the search using an additional conditioner, such as:"space"&"shuttle"&"simulator"

I already looked before your first reply. As I said already, www.flightsim.com is so congested you can't get in. You can't search library if you can't get in. I'm of the belief: if you build it, they will come. How often are Cessna 152s originally designed for Win 95/98 downloaded today? Probably not often. So I've come to the realization that there's nothing more current than OV-103 designed over 4 yrs ago. Fine. Could hv said that in the first place.

Obviously since are answers were not what you were looking for, all the tools are available for you to build one yourself! Like you said "I'm of the belief: if you build it, they will come"...Rick Sasala
