FSR4 is out. Some say it beats TAA and DLSS

If anyone needs amdxcffx64.dll file, here is the link (provided by user u/jar36). It's the version 4 FSR file.

Hi all. I have been using Optiscaler for a long time with my AMD card. It works great but make your life easier and use the new Optiscaler Client. https://youtu.be/QdsFxeR8PAg?si=RgIB2GHHS10Z7N9g

yes, it does work on nvidia cards, and in VR. I'm using it wit an RTX3060 and hp reverb g2, and have noticed a slight frame rate increase.

  • Would be great if someone could do a step by step walk through using MSFS and optiscaler. I’ve tried but don’t see the option for 4.1. In addition we need instructions for after installing what to sel

I just downloaded the Optiscaler Client (new to AMD late last year so this looks similar to DLSS Swapper to me), I then manually added MSFS2024 as it didn't find it in a scan. Selected a couple of drop down bits and it looks like FSR4 is now in place, having been using TAA in VR it'll be interesting to see how this looks, will check it out in a bit.

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

I already know the benefits of FSR3 & TAA.

Can someone who has successfully added FSR4 please explain why it's needed and how to use the Optiscaler Client?

I have an nVidia Card that doesn't support DLSS, but I have used the hack and my card works. I just did not like blurry G1000.

Thanks.

Is that an older version of the Optiscaler Client?

bad news, that load failure is happening to me now. It does not happen if I remove amdxcffx64.dll from the main msfs2024 folder. I think amdxcffx64.dll is not stable with Nvidia cards. It is stable with most of the better type of AMD cards. So AMD is now the gpu's of choice for msfs2024 I guess.

All my high hopes gone, bummer.

Running into same problem with triple screen (I have an AMD 7900XT, latest drivers).

Edit: tried with a single monitor setup and it works. With triples it gives error and crashes every time.

FSR 4 has been out for a while, and it's exclusive to the Radeon 9000 series. It uses the machine learning acceleration cores available on the 9000 series. You can mod the INT8 version of it on 6000 and 7000 series GPUs, although it's not as good as the the FP8 version.

FSR 4.1, released recently, is a nice improvement over FSR 4.0.

Official support for the INT8 version of FSR 4/4.1 is coming to the 7000 series this year, and in 2027 for 6000 series.

And no, it's not better than DLSS 4.5. It's a big improvement over FSR 3, though.

I wish MS/Asobo would keep the inbuilt systems up to date whether it is the nvidia file everyone has keep replacing or FSR.

I may try this, as I have a 9070 but I try and keep my system and install as clean as possible to avoid issues. I did briefly try the inbuilt FG but ended up with screen tearing and never looked to far into how to fix it.

So when you install this does FSR4 show up in the MSFS2024 graphics settings as a selectable option?

Switched from FSR3 to DLSS @ 3x but uninstalled the nVidia APP. Looks nice with the latest 196.49 driver.

In main ap setting, whatever tuner you are using, vsync should be set to on to prevent screen sharing.

I have a feeling that will be due to the triple screens. I tried OptiScaler about 3 months ago on my triple setup and couldn't get it to work...more than happy to be proven wrong tho.

Just to confirm from those using it, is this only invoking FSR4 Upscaling or is it also allowing FSR4 Frame Generation?

Well this is all as clear as mud. So can someone answer the simple question, does it work on Nvidia cards?
