Yesterday at 02:30 PM1 day Dilemma - I'm an avid Toliss Airbus Pilot in X-Plane 12.4.2. My system is meager by today's standards but performs very well in XP12. System details in signature spoiler. I finally decided to try MSFS 2024 to see how my system could handle it, as I would really like to try out the Fenix A320. All the YT Fenix videos have captured my attention. I now have the Steam version of MSFS 2024 and so far, my system is stable. However, I expect the Fenix Bus could bring it to its knees, so to speak. I am tempted to go ahead and purchase the Fenix, fingers crossed that it will fly well enough to enjoy. The one thing I don't like about using MSFS 2024 is that I'll be so very much tempted to purchase a lot of addons. That in itself is a Pandora's Box. Too darn many addons, with more continuously being introduced. Here's my question: Since I'm extremely satisfied with my XP12 setup, should I realistically expect Fenix A320 to function pretty well, enough to satisfy frequent VA flights? Thanks in advance to a fledgling MSFS 2024 user. Glenn Wilkinson SpoilerMy specs: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X @ 3.7 GHz, 32 GB 3200MHz DDR4, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 12 GB, 2TB SAMSUNG EVO Plus SSD M2, 2TB WD Black Gaming SSD M2, 8TB WD Black Gaming HDD, 4TB WD Black Gaming Ext HDD, Windows 10, X-Plane 12 + large quantity of 3rd party addons scenery & aircraft. Honeycomb Alpha & Bravo, Thrustmaster TFRP. It's an older machine but gets the job done quite nicely - smooth with no stutters!
Yesterday at 04:03 PM1 day Hey Glenn,I'd say if you run any airliner in XP12, then running the Fenix in MSFS2024 will be a breeze on your system. I find XP12 comparably much more demanding on my own modest GPU, than MSFS2024. I moved from XP12 to MSFS2024 in January and the visual improvements blew me away. The ToLiss planes are great in XP but I think you will find the Fenix A3XX a big step up in polish and execution. If you haven't used MSFS2020, expect a big change and learning curve in sim set up and configuration, in moving from X-Plane to MSFS2024. If you've used MFS2020, it's mainly the control assignments that have changed in 2024. I'd say go for it. The Fenix is the cream of the crop for Airbus simulations in my opinion. Yesterday at 04:48 PM1 day Author Hey, Bill! Thanks for the info. No, I've not used MSFS 2020, so it is going to be a bit of a learning curve getting used to changes in key commands and general ASOBO/MSFS2024 logic.I just made the purchase of the Fenix A320, Active Sky FS, & Black Square Baron Pro. I wanted one GA and one Airliner to learn the ropes of MSFS 2024. Unfortunately my schedule today is bonkers so it may be tomorrow before I can install and try them out. Thanks again & clear skies. Yesterday at 04:59 PM1 day If you had the normal 2060 (6GB), or 2060 super (8GB), then I think you would have trouble. But you have the rare 2060 (12GB) and the 5600X is good enough. But since you have an AM4 motherboard, be aware that AMD is very soon now once again going to sell their 5800X3D, and at a cheaper price than it cost back when it was new. It will run on your MB and with your present system ram.I run a 5800X3D and 4070 (12 GB) with a 600 watt PSU. Which has been plenty of watts to run my system. This is one of the finest GA aircraft in MSFS2024.If I may say, the one ingredient that's needed when moving to MSFS2024 is ..... patience 😊 There are posts from people sometimes who get mighty frustrated, quickly, and then throw the baby out with the bath water. I think if you expect it will be tough, it's then possible to celebrate the small victories. My sim journey over the years has been; FS9 > FSX > XP10 > XP11 > MSFS2020 & XP12 > MSFS2024. So I've meandered between both platforms. Moving from XP12 to MSFS2024, I'd say the most challenging areas may be; views/cameras and control assignments. These happen to be two areas that are definitely simpler to set up and manage in XP than they are in MSFS. In MSFS there are internal, external and drone cameras. The first two are intuitive and are based around the aircraft. The drone camera is like a 'free look' camera that you can move around anywhere (great for exploring airports).Good luck! 22 hours ago22 hr Author I am now at the point where I need to assign my plethora of controls. It was so easy in XP12, but a counterintuitive mess in MSFS 2024, at least to my tired eyes. I'm open to any suggestions or good link to a guide to setting up controllers. I'm glad TrackIR5 was easy to set up.
