FLIGHT DYNAMICS: POSKY B747 TURBINE BEHAVIOR

Recommended Posts

Guest

I wonder if anyone could help how to fix speed and fuel consumption on last version from posky B747-4 GE turbine (2002.5.6c). I have checked two planes with this turbine and both can not archieve .85 mach with full fuel load at FL360. Other strange behavior is the N2, all the time red indicating the turbine is working overheating..There is any program to change to fix this problem? Thanks in advance.

Hello Penna, you can change the thrust and fuel flow be editing the .air file. Have a look here:Air File Editorshttp://perso.wanadoo.fr/hsors/FS_Soft/fsairfile.htmlAir File Board, post March 2003http://www.avhistory.org/scripts/MegaBBS/logon.aspAircraft Performance Datahttp://perso.wanadoo.fr/hsors/FS_Soft/acftdata.htmlWell for the -200 you can't cruise heavier than 740,000 lb at M0.85 and FL360.Top of climb at max weight is about 5000ft lower on the -400 so the model could well be right. But you can still change it...... Waldemar, I strongly encourage you to PLEASE read the manual, and not worry about the .air files. Warren, the author, is very experienced in doing this, and real life 744 pilots have flown the airfiles to at elast give a thumbs up. A 744 is not supposed to be able to fly that high when it's tanks are at 100%. Does step climbing sound familiar? DO NOT climb straight to cruise altitude, despite what ATC may say. Climb to FL150 or so, cruise for some time to burn off fuel(30 mins, maybe), then climb another 10,000 ft, and repeat until you're at cruise altitude. Climb charts are in the POSKY 744 manual. It's almsot the same in the PM2 Concorde, but you need to step climb while accellerating, so you don't run out of climb thrust near the end of the climb becasue you are trying to keep suffcient airspeed. Please ask any questions about POSKY aircraft here:http://forum.projectopensky.com/Good luck, and happy landings
