Question regarding the consequences of modifying an AIR file to add a center tank

Featured Replies

Hello! My question is related to the newly-released FFX B737 classic series aircraft. These aircraft are wonderful and nice to fly, but I noticed that they lack a center tank, which is present in the real aircraft. Now if I would add that center tank for myself, would this also change the flight dynamics of the aircraft? Of course I would adjust the size of the wing tanks accordingly.Yours,Martin Georg/EDDFVACC-SAG PR & Events Coordinator *** mailto:[email protected]http://images.vacc-sag.org/convention6.jpg

If you adjust the wing tanks and add the center tank, but the total fuel weight remains the same, dynamics will be only slightly changed--not enough to notice. The most significant impact would be less of a tendency to roll when one of the wing tanks is empty, as you would have less weight "off center" on the other side...I would say, go ahead and make the change--just back up the existing .air file first....-John

Airfile?From the default 737-400aircraft.cfg?[fuel]Center1=0, 0, 0, 2313, 0 //Longitudinal (feet), Lateral (feet), Vertical (feet), Usable(gallons), Unusable (gallons)LeftMain=-3, -19, 0, 1500, 0 //Longitudinal (feet), Lateral (feet), Vertical (feet), Usable(gallons), Unusable (gallons)RightMain=-3, 19, 0, 1500, 0 //Longitudinal (feet), Lateral (feet), Vertical (feet), Usable(gallons), Unusable (gallons)fuel_type=2 //Fuel type: 1 = Avgas, 2 = JetAnumber_of_tank_selectors=1 Backup the aircraf.cfg and add/modify the tanks.Regards,Bob

Keep in mind, data/changes in the aircraft.cfg file over ride the data in the airfile.Regards,Bob
