FSDS 2 2.2 - A fix or a fudge?

Recommended Posts

Months ago, I found that landing lights caused fps to "choke" around the effects engine, especially in Las Vegas. The problem is fixed--to a point. Landing lights are now only available in virtual cockpit view, vs. a gmax made aircraft, where they are available regardless of V/C or Cockpit view. If there are any other FSDS 2 designers, can you please try this with your own efforts? I want to confirm this--but I am really concerned that the "fix" to the problem was simply taking away functionality that an SDK compliant aircraft should have--something that was promised with FSDS 2. Feedback?-John

John,Using the new "front model," the landing lights in the Premier are visible in both the 2d and VC views, and have little to no impact on fps around Los Vegas. When the Premier SR1 is released you'll see what I mean... :)BillAVSIM OmbudsmanFounder and Director,Creative Recycling of Aircraft Partshttp://catholic-hymns.com/frbill/FS2002/images/fartslogo.jpg

Thanks Bill....Sounds like I need to go back to FSDS 2 school :)-JohnEdit--I pasted the landing light to the "Front model"... Saw something there, so I'll have to play with it a bit more. I didn't see it referenced in the docs--saw no mention that the Landing Lights were fixed, which they obviously are, as I was able to soar over Vegas in my project I've worked on with Chuck Dome (The Mirage) with no fps hit.I'll have to play around a bit more with the same aircraft in FS2004 this evening.... Once I'm satisfied it works in both places, I can package it up and release it.-John
