The trick to keeping an image looking really crisp is to texture polys that surround that small image. This way you dont have to reduce the size of the bitmap just so it fits on the part the way that it is supposed to. See my sample below......this is what it might look like somewhat far away.....http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/25455.jpg[bR]this is what it would look like closer.......http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/25456.jpgI hope this helps!Kobie :-wave

My current texture is 1024x1024 and is applied to the side polys of the fuselage. This allows me to do the rivet lines with a consistant size and spacing. I've experimented with several ideas and this has been the best so far. The gas cap looks great, but I've noted when viewing my plane in fs spot view that you can only get so close before these details aren't in view anyway. It's tough to decide how far to go when it comes to details like this...I'm not sure I understand what you're doing - is that a large texture applied to the whole wing, or was it only applied to selected polys?Regards,Robert:-)

The Gas Cap alone is part of a 1024X1024 Bitmap. The way that you map an object, is to select the region of the bitmap that you are wanting to texture, and apply it accordingly. Meaning that I am not using the entire bitmap to map onto the gas cap, but only a small region of the 1024X1024.Are you mapping your parts by region???If you need more help, let me know..... i can help you by email if neccesary.Kobie
