XML Sounds in FS2004

Recommended Posts

What's the verdict on sound effects and XML in FS2004?Can it be done?I'm working on my first gauge. All it does play a .wav when you press a button. Very simple (so I hope). Also, does anyone know the code to play a simple .wav file in XML?Thank you from a newbie.

If you make a dummy effect (no actual visible particles), you can add/replace the following lines to the top of the file:[Library Effect]Lifetime=5Version=2.00Radius=0Priority=0Sound=5Sound Param=40[Properties]Cockpit=1VirtualCockpit=1Spot=1Tower=1Map=1Hook the effect to the smoke system (or logolight or whatever). Then turn the effect on or off or toggle to activate the barn.wav. Then it is just a matter of replacing the barn.wav file with your own.I know, this is extremely lame method, but it does provide the sound. And you can only have this one sound... :(Microsoft: Please!!! Why are all those click.wav's in there in the first place?

LSProbably already mentioned, but the (>K:Afterburner1 & 2) sounds work well in cooperation with the xmlsound.gau.Jan"Procul Negotiis"

Hi Karl,Yep. Using Smoke and the max. 9 Light effect would give you 10 possible sounds.Only problem is that they are usually occupied by another usefull effect :-).If you look at the other tread (see link above), Trevor suggested a much better method: using unused ADF frequency. In general, using an unused Axis-type variable for communication between an XML gauge and a Cgauge that play the actual sound, would give you 32000 possible sounds :-) (although only one can be initiated at a time).Rob

Something strange?I gave my 767 4 engines in the aircraft.cfg file et voila: 4 working afterburner sounds!?A look wether this fraude has influence on the aircraft's behaviour:Well..., a lot of side effects, probably to much.Jan"Procul Negotiis"
