Hi,How do I do this?I have created bmps with shadows, but when loaded into FS, the shadow appears as a solid blob and not as a shadow.Whats the technique to get this to work? Thanks,John

Try to make the shadow half transparent! This means that you have to draw the first pixel in solid color, the second pixel transparent(RGB 0,0,0), the third solid, the fourth transparent, and so on...This should look shadow like, as you can see the background color darkend through the solid color.Or just draw it all by hand: a switch is very easy to do, you just have to draw the two possible cases with the shadow already on it. If it looks good in the painting program, it also looks good in FS! Regards,Harry

If I'm following you ... I need to intermix solid black pixels with the shadow image. black pixel desinty will increase as I move out from the center of the shadow thus giving the impression in FS that the shadow is disipates as it spreads out.I'm using Photodelux Home Edition ...I'm not sure if this program can do just what your saying.any recommendations on a program that can do what you say?thanks,John

There are in fact many ways to do this but the best way is to use Photoshop or Painshop Pro 7 (cheaper and does the same effects). Here is some shading using the same colors in a GRADIENT and using the PRESET TOOL (Square here)and notice what I have CLICKED on the RIGHT. I took the darkest color and lightest color to create the illusion of shawdow. Takes a bit to figure out what does what but you can do some great work knowing how to use the tools correctly. Hand drawing is really NOT the way to create the effect, let the program work for you...http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/40478.jpg[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J. One quick example using the above method, if I was doing it I would create it a tad darker but at least you get the fade effect. One important thing, it does not really matter what it looks like on the bitmap (great detail etc), what matters is the effect in game. http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/40506.jpg[h4]Best Wishes,Randy J.
