Contact point help!

Guest azflyboy

Hello,I need some help here with contact points. As you miy or may not know LAGO has an ultralights pacakge for FS2002 that has some issues with FS2004. The package contains a paraglider (man wearing parafoil). The problem in FS9 is that the paraglider, when loaded, instead of standing up, flips around in a manner that defies physics. The problem appears to lie with the contact points, and i have permission from LAGO to post those here. can anyone devise a fix for this odd beahviour? thanks,David Swindle[contact_points]point.0= 1.000, 4.850, -3.800, -2.460, 3500.000, 0.000, 5.000, 50.000, 0.150, 2.000, 0.700, 1.000, 1.000, 0.000, 0.000, 0.000point.1= 1.000, -2.500, 0.000, -2.445, 3500.000, 1.000, 5.000, 0.000, 0.150, 2.000, 0.700, 1.000, 1.000, 2.000, 0.000, 0.000point.2= 1.000, 4.850, 3.800, -2.460, 3500.000, 2.000, 5.000, 50.000, 0.150, 2.000, 0.700, 1.000, 1.000, 3.000, 0.000, 0.000static_pitch= 0.000static_cg_height= 2.450

David,I think you need to add some scrape points! The reason I say this is that if you comment out the scrape points in a properly sitting aircraft, it will do some really strange hopping around also.Lou

David,I don't see anything that jumps right out there. The points appear to be for a taildragger. From my experience, the center of gravity should be somewhere between the front and rear wheels. You should find that value in the cfg file. Also check the fuel tanks. If any of the major weights are located outside of the wheel footprint, the plane could sink into the ground or hop around.John Woodward

Thanks for the responses. Unfortunatley, i have no idea how to edit contact points in a manner that works. Would anyone be able to help me if i could get permission to post(or e-mail) specific lines from the .cfg?(I wil NOT be allowed to post it in its entirety)

If I read the points correctly:point.0= 1.000, //class - wheel4.850, //feet forward of datum (COG?) -3.800, //feet left of datum - point 0 then is your left gear-2.460, //feet below datum3500.000, //impact damage trheshold0.000, //brake map 0 = NO brake map 5.000, //wheel radius (you have a 5-foot radius?)50.000, //steering angle0.150, //static compression2.000, //max to static compression ratio0.700, //damping ratio1.000, //extension time (1 second?)1.000, //extension time (1 second?)0.000, //sound type - 0 = none0.000, //Airpeed damage limit-speed above which you can't extend gear0.000 //Airpeed damage limit-speed above which your extended gear gets damaged.Reading the other points, your center gear gas a left brake map, and the right gear has a right brake map.Apart from the apparent 10-foot diameter wheels ... I believe that you may be having a problem with the retractable landing gear. Above 0 knots, your gear is damaged, so if it's on the ground it may be causing jitters?Of course, I'm not a contact points expert, and my eyes may deceive me, but that's the way I'm reading those points, per the FS9 Aircraft Container SDK.Felix/FFDSPegasus Aviation Design

Try this ...point.0= 1.000, 4.850, -3.800, -2.460, 3500.000, 1.000, 5.000, 0.000, 0.150, 2.000, 0.700, 1.000, 1.000, 2.000, 0.000, 0.000point.1= 1.000, -2.500, 0.000, -2.445, 3500.000, 0.000, 5.000, 50.000, 0.150, 2.000, 0.700, 1.000, 1.000, 0.000, 0.000, 0.000point.2= 1.000, 4.850, 3.800, -2.460, 3500.000, 2.000, 5.000, 0.000, 0.150, 2.000, 0.700, 1.000, 1.000, 3.000, 0.000, 0.000

I tried those points and teh poor guy still flips over backwards as soon as the flight loads. Is there a way to make the aircraft have a larger footprint (make the gear farther apartwider?)

yes, but not without seeing the rest of the aircraft.cfg file.
