TIP: Using the "Time of Day" in a GMax Model

Recommended Posts

To save anyone a LOT of trouble, should they like to use the new, Time of Day variable in the makemdl.parts.xml file, here is some working code:..........day_time............................................(E:TIME OF DAY, enum)..............................1.............This adds the ability to display stuff only during the daytime, such as pilot's sunglasses, etc. :)

>cool.. thanks for the tip ;)>>is there a weather condition ?AMBIENT_PRECIP_RAINAMBIENT_PRECIP_SNOWAMBIENT_PRECIP_NONEThose are already "coded" for use with the "Rain Effect" in the VC.

>how about the exterior model ? :)You misunderstand, Lionel. The modeler can use the XML "keyword" anywhere in the model to achieve a desired effect. Simply because AMBIENT_PRECIP_RAIN is already used to trigger the "VC Rain effect" doesn't mean it couldn't be used for something else in the model, such as triggering automatic windshield wipers when it start raining. The makemdl.parts.xml code provides a way to "hard code" programming instructions (gauge commands) into the model itself, eliminating the need for coding a traditional gauge, and being forced to use "tricks" to achieve your goal.Carried to the extreme, it is entirely possible to build a 3d animated, analog gauge completely *inside* the compiled MDL file itself. Imagine, for example, clocks on a courthouse with 3d "hands" that move and display accurate time! :)
