Help Please, Problem with gauge sound...

Recommended Posts

Guest alfaserv

Hello everyone,This is probably a stupid question, but i can't figure it out.I am trying to build an accurate Learjet Panel, and for that I use amongst a lot of other gauges a gauge called Boeing747-400.AC-switch.gau.It is an older gauge, and it represents a simple square button to control the airconditioning with. When I press it, a sound starts, but that sound is much too loud for my panel, so I wanted to change it.I began searching for a .wav file, and searched my entire harddisk, tried them all, but the sound is not there. I am completely flabbergasted !My question: is it possible that the sound is built in the gauge itself, and if so, how can I change it? I am no programmer so I hope the solution will be simple??Thanks,Jack

The sound is probably encoded into the gauge. If so, then it cannot be modified without the original source code.

Images, icons, text and sounds can be embedded in a gauge file - they are called resources. There are some tools out there to extract some types of images (bmp format), but I'm not sure one exists to extract a wav file. However, you might be able to record the sound while it's playing back.

Hi, and thanks for your answers.Snooping around at the forum led me to this program: ResHacker. With this I was able to subtract the .wav file, edit it (brought down the volume with WaveEditor), and put it back in, and it works !!!Never too old to learn........Thanks all !Jack
