Creating polys from selected vertices in GMax?

Recommended Posts

Guest dnunez

Hi allIn FSDS, you could select a bunch of verts, then press control-P, and you would have a new poly in your object. How do you do this in GMAX? I've tried the "create" feature in the poly subobject, but it seems to create a new object. Thanks in advance!

here's what i do... use a line, and the Snap tool to make a NEW object.to create a poly on an existing object... use CREATE POLYGON with object selected and in EPOLY mode, and the snap tool. Click on each VERT in a COUNTERCLOCKWISE direction until your new POLY is created.as far as i have ever known, grouping verts will not work. (unless your capping a planer hole)later, joe

Well, that's FSDS. GMAX doesn't work that way. The simplest way to create a poly in GMAX without needing to weld and stuff.1) Switch to polygon mode and click create.2) Vertices that are not hidden become visible.3) Click on the starting vertex. A line for the new poly becomes visible. Click on the next vertex. The next line is added. Double click on the third vertex to finish creating the poly.Note: Keep in mind that you should, for the best results, keep your polygon as a tri-gon (three vertices per polygon). This way you won't have to snap your newly created poly to any other points and you won't have any duplicated vertices.Note 2: Sometimes the face of the poly gets inverted. Simply flip the polygon in the right direction.I hope this was helpfull!
