How to lower VC light intensity?

Recommended Posts

I now have a fully backlit set of gauges for the VC of my Flight1 C172 -- and it looks really good at night - except that the overall VC lighting ( which I believe is provided by a FX file) is too bright . Can anybody advise how to lower it's intensity please?Unlike Miltons D18 - which provides separate switches for the gauge lighting and the VC cockpit lighting, with the C172, both sets of lighting are either on or off. Thanks Barry

That ADF backlighting looks really nice, Barry! To adjust the intensity level of the VC "overhead" lighting, you will need to check the aircraft.cfg to see what filename is being used for the lights (typically, it will have the letters "vc" somewhere in the name!)... ;)Make a copy of that file, rename it, then open it in notepad.exe...For each of the [ParticleAttributes.X] entries you can find, change the color values to whatever you like. I've found this set of values produces a nice, soft, off-white ambience:Color Start=50, 47, 45, 45Color End=50, 47, 45, 0

Thanks once again, Bill. I have managed to fix that aspect as well -- my Flight1C172 now is real nice when flying at night.Considering that I don't really have a clue what I am doing -- not a bad job, if I do say so myself! :)Barry

You've just described me to a "T..." ;)I'm a "dabbler," meaning I'm like a dog with an old bone; I bite away at it and eventually manage to crack it open and obtain the marrow... ;)I'm delighted that you managed to "fill in the blanks," as I did neglect to mention that you would need to edit the aircraft.cfg entry(ies) to the new filename!

I just slashed out the old entries - did I do wrong??BTW - If a man does something - and his wife isn't there with him when he does it -- is he still wrong??Barry
