Autopilot heading problem

Recommended Posts

I have noticed a little problem with all the FS aircrafts, including the default ones:When I fly manually and engage the autopilot with the current heading, the aircraft makes a small turn to the right and comes back to the original heading. For example, I fly with heading 160

Hi Eric,I have noticed the same thing too.But I think this is just caused by the way the Microsoft algoritm for HeadingHold works (probably forcing a deviation first before it can "lock").You can try to fiddle with the values fornav_proportional_control=nav_integrator_control=nav_derivative_control=nav_integrator_boundary=nav_derivative_boundary=in the AP section of the aircraft.cfg, but I doubt that will help for HeadingHold.Cheers, RobPS: your panel is still on my to-do list :-)

>nav_proportional_control=>nav_integrator_control=Sounds like either one of these may be too large (probably the integrator). I usually set the P constant to get good (quick) response to heading change. The I constant takes care of heading hold stability (it can't be neither too small nor too large).Adam

Yes, I stil have the problem. It can be smaller if the autopilot values are adjusted, but it always appears...Eric
