Massive aircraft bounces on tarmac

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,Has anyone figured out why massive aircraft have hopping tendencies when sitting on the tarmac when their landing gear is moderately far away from Datum center? Is there perhaps a work around on this 'anomolly'?Many thanks,BillLHC

I decided to go with the 747 airfile templates which have similarities and the large layout is stable. It would be nice though to know why this anomolly occurrs and if there is a way to keep the gear from bouncing off the tarmac. It is deffinately due to 'distance' out from center of the aircraft. Usually if you place the nose gear far out away from the main gear, the nose will begin bouncing. My design had all gear moving away fairly evenly though, which should have 'balanced' the load. Some day......

Which aircraft are you talking about? And which pair of the wheels is bouncy? I'm supposing the nose gear is problematic. I have problems understanding what you're talking about because I never noticed behavioryou're describing. If you'd be a bit more specific I can maybe even try to offer some help.
