Blank Screen in Gauge Callback

Recommended Posts

Guest newmav

Is there a way to black out the screen for a couple seconds from a gauge callback? I was going to just create a black gauge that is full screen, but I was wondering if there was a more efficient way to do this. Thanks for any help.

Well, in theory, you can do anything you want in a callback. However, it is not wish to do things that take to long or you will not allow FS to update.A couple of seconds is a very long time when FS is updating at 18 Hz.So you would probably pause the game, then make a window with DirectX and do what you want in it, then return and unpause the game.Patrick

Thanks for your reply! Actually, all I want to do is black out the screen before I present an unusual attitude with FSUIPC. The black-out is meant to represent a period of time where the pilot is distracted by something else, and the plane automatically evades a threat. Is there an easier way to blank the screen than with Direct X? Thanks again.

Oh, in that case, your original idea would be the simplest to accomplish. Create a 'full screen gauge' that simply toggles an opaque bitmap for however long you need it...
