AAM/Aired Number Formats

Hi all.Can anyone explain the relationship between the number formats used in AAM and Aired? For example, for Cn_beta Yaw Moment, AAM reads 0.15 where Aired reads 307. Thanks,haegri.

AAM displays the scaled parameter value, AirEd displays the raw value.In your example, the actual value of Cn_beta Yaw Moment is ~0.15, but the number is represented in the airfile as (2048 x actual value) or 2048 * 0.15 ~= 307The "FSUIPC for Programmers" document in the FSUIPC SDK is a good source for the various scaling and conversion factors used in the internal representations.RegardsBob ScottATP IMEL Gulfstream II-III-IV-V L-300Santiago de Chile

HI. Thanks for replying and sorry about the late response. For some reason I didn't get an e-mail notification, and I still don't understand the forums properly, so I didn't know how to find what I'd just posted until I did a search for my username.I'd actually managed to figure it out for myself by this time - I notice some of the params are *937 or something, and others are the same as the AAM ones. The reason I wanted to know is that I find Aired easier to use than AAM (for some reason, I've got to reload the AC in AAM after each save) but only AAM seems to have the facility to dump an ASCII representation of the params, which is useful for comparisons and such. It wasn't much use looking at AAM printouts if I was using Aired for editing - can't do sums in my head! I've now written a spreadsheet so I can paste the 1101 primary aerodynamics info of a few planes into columns in sheet1 and it appears in Aired format in the corresponding columns in sheet2, which I can then print out to compare with what I'm working on.All this in a vain attempt to get the DC3 to roll reasonably straight after a crosswind landing! I've got several planes that are reasonably easy to land in a crosswind - even some taildraggers - but I can't find any obvious similarities between their airfiles.Actually, what I'd like to see would be a forum, or something, where FS aircraft could be put through a formal documented test process - critical speeds, stall characteristics, whether they hold a bank, V speeds, etc, much as a real new plane is tested, and then suggestions as to how any faults might be mended. Don't suppose there would be any takers!Thanks,haegri.
