Gauge sizing? ???

Recommended Posts

Guest deKoven

Hmmm, I have a gauge in this panel from a Saab 340; problem is that the gauge takes up almost half the screen and I can't resize it. I've tried everything I could think of and went through the Official docs with no success. Herewith is the panel.cfg file; I've posted the whole thing in case something somewhere else is at fault. The window I'm interested in is Window04. Any help most gratefully appreciated.Edit: should have mentioned, this is FS9.// This Panel.cfg file created by FS Panel Studio panel editor utility - http://www.fspanelstudio.com// Built Monday, December 13, 2004 at 16:51 FSPS Build:14852[Window Titles]Window00=Main PanelWindow01=Overhead PanelWindow02=Radio stackWindow03=ECUWindow04=GPSWindow05=Bush Pilot BuddyWindow06=TerraVue//--------------------------------------------------------[Window00]file=main.bmp file_1024=main.bmp size_mm=640window_size_ratio=1.000 position=7visible=1ident=MAIN_PANELwindow_size= 1.000, 1.000window_pos= 0.000, 0.000gauge00=Kingair!Attitude, 139,272,110,103gauge01=Kingair!Hsi, 139,374,110,103gauge02=Kingair!Airspeed, 63,299,70,69gauge03=Kingair!Altimeter, 250,296,80,79gauge04=Kingair!Rmi, 58,373,80,80gauge05=Kingair!Vsi, 251,377,80,79gauge06=Cessna182rg!Attitude, 360,277,60,59gauge07=Cessna182rg!Altimeter, 416,339,50,49gauge08=generic.airspeed, 362,339,50,50gauge09=Kingair!Oil_PT1, 471,397,40,39gauge10=Kingair!Oil_PT2, 512,397,40,39gauge11=Kingair!Itt1, 470,316,40,39gauge12=Kingair!Itt2, 511,316,40,39gauge13=Kingair!Torque1, 470,275,40,39gauge14=Kingair!Torque2, 511, 275 ,40,39gauge15=Kingair!FuelFlow1, 554,397,40,40gauge16=Kingair!FuelFlow2, 595,398,40,39gauge17=Kingair!PropRpm1, 471,438,40,39gauge18=Kingair!PropRpm2, 512,438,40,40gauge19=Kingair!Rpm1, 470,357,40,39gauge20=Kingair!Rpm2, 512,357,40,39gauge21=fs9gps!gps_500, 362,392,100,82gauge22=737-400!Left Gear Light, 581,295,22,11gauge23=737-400!Right Gear Light, 603,295,22,11gauge24=737-400!Nose Gear Light, 593,283,22,12gauge25=Kingair!Altimeter_Selector, 503,187,70,35gauge26=Kingair_Radio!Nav1, 440,187,60,65gauge27=Kingair_Radio!Nav2, 578,187,60,65gauge28=Kingair!Master_Warning, 128,217,33,20gauge29=Kingair!Master_Caution, 200,217,33,20gauge30=saab340!alt_switch, 405,203,22,12gauge31=saab340!appr_switch, 405,189,22,12gauge32=saab340!hdg_switch, 303,189,22,12gauge33=saab340!vs_switch, 303,203,22,12gauge34=saab340!nav_switch, 329,189,22,12gauge35=saab340!bc_switch, 329,203,22,12gauge36=saab340!fd_switch, 543,234,22,22gauge37=saab340!cmd_switch, 509,234,22,22gauge38=saab340!lvl_switch, 355,203,22,12gauge39=saab340!yaw_switch, 355,189,22,12gauge40=saab340!dummy_switch, 380,189,22,12gauge41=saab340!dummy_switch, 380,203,22,12gauge42=Kingair!Pitch_Trim, 439,288,15gauge43=saab340!left_fuel, 654,538,40,40gauge44=saab340!left_fuel, 554,438,40,40gauge45=saab340!right_fuel, 595,438,40,40gauge46=saab340!flaps, 587,361,35,35gauge47=Kingair!Clock, 4,299,50gauge48=SimIcons!ATC Icon, 7,410,20,20gauge49=SimIcons!Avionics Icon, 7,385,20,20gauge50=SimIcons!ECU Icon, 30,359,20,20gauge51=SimIcons!GPS Icon, 30,385,20,20gauge52=SimIcons!Kneeboard Icon, 7,435,20,20gauge53=SimIcons!Overhead Icon, 7,359,20,20gauge54=SimIcons!Map Icon, 30,410,20,20gauge55=Kingair!Landing_Gear, 592,308,25//--------------------------------------------------------[Window01]file=overhead.bmp file_1024=overhead.bmp size_mm=640window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=0ident=OVERHEAD_PANELwindow_size= 1.000, 1.000window_pos= 0.000, 0.000gauge00=saab340!battery_switch, 332,23,20,30gauge01=saab340!beacon_lights, 449,23,20,30gauge02=saab340!deice, 511,23,20,30gauge03=saab340!land_lights, 372,23,20,30gauge04=saab340!lgen, 554,33,35,12gauge05=saab340!lstart, 554,10,35,12gauge06=saab340!nav_lights, 430,23,20,30gauge07=saab340!pitot, 486,23,20,30gauge08=saab340!strobe_lights, 411,23,20,30gauge09=saab340!taxi_lights, 392,23,20,30gauge10=saab340!rstart, 596,10,35,12gauge11=saab340!rgen, 596,33,35,12//--------------------------------------------------------[Window02]file=radio.bmp file_1024=radio.bmp size_mm=640window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=0ident=RADIO_STACK_PANELwindow_size= 1.000, 1.000window_pos= 0.000, 0.000gauge00=Kingair_Radio!Adf, 520,414,60gauge01=Kingair_Radio!Com1, 520,349,60gauge02=Kingair_Radio!Com2, 579,349,60gauge03=Kingair_Radio!Xpndr, 579,414,60//--------------------------------------------------------[Window03]file=ecu.bmp file_1024=ecu.bmp size_mm=640window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=0ident=THROTTLE_PANELwindow_size= 1.000, 1.000window_pos= 0.000, 0.000gauge00=Kingair!Throttle Quadrant, 462,316,176,161//-------------------------------------------------------[Window04]Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=500,366position=8window_size_ratio=1.000 visible=0ident=GPS_PANELgauge00=GARMIN_GNSv4!GNS530_1, 0, 0, 500, 366//--------------------------------------------------------[Window05]Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=305,214window_size_ratio=1.000 position=2visible=0sizeable=1ident=273gauge00=BPB!BPB, 0,0,304,213//--------------------------------------------------------[Window06]BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0size_mm=245,245 position=3visible=0ident=210514gauge00=TerraVue!TerraVue3, 0, 0, 245, 245Day=255,255,255Night=233,108,107Luminous=201,64,64[Default View]X=0Y=0SIZE_X=8192SIZE_Y=3127

You obviously have FS Panel Studio (the header of the panel.cfg tells me so...), so why not simply use FSPS to position and size the GPS gauge?Select Window04Select Window/Set Default PositionYou will see a Window with your GPS outlined in a yellow box, with it's current position and size relative to the screen. In the upper right corner of the dialog screen, find the "Window Size" spinners. Click on the "LOCK" icon to maintain the correct ratio of width:height. Now, use the Width spinner to rescale the size to what you desire, and use the "Window Position" spinners to set the default position you want the GPS to always take.I would say "It's so easy a caveman could do it," but unlike Geico I don't want to get involved in a libel suit... ;)In any case, here is an example of a GPS that's been sized/placed using this method in FS Panel Studio (which could, of course be done manually too, but why bother?)://--------------------------------------------------------Window08Background_color=0,0,0 size_mm=457,379window_size_ratio=1.000 position=0visible=0ident=90window_size= 0.490, 0.470 // NOTE these two lines!!!window_pos= 0.520, 0.540 // these are the keys to success!!!gauge00=escj1gpsclose!escj1gpsclose, 41,48,305,201gauge01=fs9gps!gps_500, 2,0,456,378

It was done by the person who created the model so that option is out. I don't have the expertise to create panels; I CAN add small things to one that is already existing.:D

Get thenecessary info from that program and then insert it "by hand' into my REAL cfg file. This preserves theoriginal in the "as I like it" condition :) Paul

You could try changing "window_size_ratio=1.000" to something like "window_size_ratio=.5" (half size). If that doesn't work, try completely replacing "window_size_ratio=1.000" with "window_size=0.5", I know that works, I used it on the default C-172 panel recently. You must reload the aircraft to see the changes. Also, the window sizes are saved in the .flt file when you save a flight, so even if you've modified the panel.cfg, loading a flight saved prior to the modification may return the window to it's original, obnoxiously large size.Jim
