3d views of an MDL....

Is there (in FSX) a simple, direct, way to edit the 3d views of an airplane model.I tried using ACM, but it doesn't work (as expected...). Reading the SDK docs didn't help me either ... I can see how to generate an mdl, but I was simply trying to "look" at the front/side/top views of the model, prferebly with some sort of length scale in feet/inches... The Aircraft Reference Point should also be visible :-)

Well there may be one way but it will take many steps and it may not work at all depending on step 1.1. Use the aircraft mdl as a scenery mdl, get a guid code for it.2. Compile it as static scenery using xml.3. make a new aircaft looking like a giant 3d Tee-Square with measurement increments painted on it. ( I've done this step to measure buildings and such ) or if only measuring width/length, not height use http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=...hor=&CatID=rootOR , again if only measuring width/length, not height use http://library.avsim.net/esearch.php?DLID=...hor=&CatID=root on the actual aircraft you're measuring and use any scenery object as a reference zero then slew aircraft to the measurement point using above gauge.Regards,Roman

Well,thank Rome! Extremely ingenious!!!I miss my BAO tools, released for fs5.... :-(The closer we got to it was ACM, but it doesn't work with FSX. My only alternative will be to somehow edit the fs9 versions of the aircraft and admit the FSX model is similar...

After having "slept on the question," depending on one's level of programming skillset in C, it should be possible to use SimConnect to "draw" index lines on screen in real time with which to measure any model.One would use keyboard commands to move an index line to say, the top of the vertical stabilizer and then read the distance from a digital display...
