EasyGauge Forum

Recommended Posts

HI Folks. I've been away from working with panels and gauges due to illness but feel now that I am able to get going again. However, I still consider myself a beginner. I know that XML is current but I am still finding my way with the EasyGauge prog. I tried logging into their forum today to no avail due to my password etc. not being recognised. I thought that they had maybe made me inactive, so I mailed them to check. My mail has been returned as undelivered. Is EasyGauge still around? I know that a new version was being worked on. Perhaps someone could let me know.Regards...Ken

The site doesn't work for me, either, Ken.I haven't been there for months, but it was falling apart then. The site wasn't being maintained, the bots had loaded it up with porn, etc, and it looked like most of the regulars had gone away.AFAIK, the "new" Easy Gauge never made it past the teaser stage.Fwiw, I switched to xml and, after an adjustment period, I find it easier and quicker than the somewhat clunky Easy Gauge format. Good luck,Glenn

They have "locked the forums" to prevent the SPAM BOTS from polluting the forums, but......unfortunately, the website no longer recognizes MY username and password either!I still use EG (last release) for quick "layout" and/or "prototyping," but have long since moved on and learned to use the MSVC++ .NET 2003 IDE for any "real" gauge development.I also use a bit of XML now and again for some few things that are easier to accomplish than with C++/GDI+...Years ago I advised them to make their price more reasonable so they would sell thousands of licenses, rather than the pitiful few hundred they had managed to sell. It's too bad really, I still think their basic concept to be brilliant.

Hello Glen and Bill. Many thanks for your replies, I appreciate them. I have been simming for a long time now but always feel that I am at the coo's (cow's) tail when it comes to gauge design. I really would like to do what you folks are doing. I will check out XML with regard to gauges, I can check the XML of gauges using Panel Studio just to get a feel for the syntax. I will also check the web for info on MSVC++.NET 2003 IDE. Could you suggest any tutorials please? I only make simple stuff to suit my own needs. Things like switches and lights etc. I have not made any really complex parts.I may find it all a bit overwhelming. Still, gotta start somewhere!!Regards...Ken

> I have been simming for a long time now but always feel that>I am at the coo's (cow's) tail when it comes to gauge design. When I first started five years ago, I was at that same point! Although I too a major at the University in "Computer Science," it was through the College of Business Administration, so all my programming was geared towards business using the then current languages: Fortran IV, COBOL, SNOBOL, Assembler and so forth. Actually, my primary focus was on what was called "Systems Analysis and Design," which is just a fancy title for the folks who "See the Big Picture" and know enough to recommend "solutions" to clients, which encompass hardware, software and personnel. ;)> I will also check the web for info on MSVC++.NET 2003>IDE.
