FSX Texure Question

Recommended Posts

Guest Patrick_Waugh

In the SDK under exporting proceedures for Max they have:> If skinned animation is to be applied to the model, ensure that> a Flight Simulator X material is applied (click the FlightSimX> box of the Material Editor dialog), and that the Skinned Mesh> box is checked in the enhanced parameters section of the Material> Editor dialog. This seems to imply that one could export a model using non FS materials. Is this true? If so, under what circumstances does it make sense to use one over the other?Patrick

Actually, this is simply referring to using I-K bones with "skinned mesh" for such things as human models, flexing wings, et cetera.Instead of breaking apart a human character, we would build a "bone system," animate the "bones" using I-K chained animations, then attach a "skin mesh object" to the bones. When the "bones move" in the sim, the "skinned mesh" will automatically adapt itself to the bone's movement. ;)
