computer crash

Hi,Since half a year my computer crashes totally after a few minutes flightsimulation (fs9, windows xp)I did a lot of uninstalls via disk 1 and via configuration and just by deleting etc., No virusses etc.Of course a lot of reinstalls too; and defrags etc.The computer functions further normal.Nothing helps, so i bought a boat.But i miss the simulator!What can i do else?New computer?Jan"Beatus ille qui procul negotiis..."

Nice lookin boat ~~! Have you checked your physical memory? We all know that FS is one of the most CPU/Memory programs out there. Whenever I start getting weird closes/BSODs etc... I check the memory. I have 2 sticks 512 @, XP starts and almost all programs will run, FS just happens to catch a bad address on a bad stick for instance. I have replaced 4 sticks since building my computer in 2003 --- lifetime warranty :-) They will not question it either if you can give them the exact address/fault too..Check cooling also ;-) http://www.memtest.org/RomanProud "TEAM AVSIM" RTW race member.

Hi Jan Welcome back, I agree with Roman I had the same 2 years ago change memory first (matched pairs) Then check for overheating (CPU GPU temps). I found the motherboard had over heated so upgraded to a bigger spec with big processor and lots of fans. Flightsims sure gives it a hard workout but they can work OK doing normal stuff. Paul

Hi,i've had the same thing but to me this happened after i built a new pc. Turns out the power supply that came with the new case was not up to the job.I put in a zallman psu and never looked back.Maybe your psu is on the verge of breaking down and becomes instable when the load increases, this causes shut downs etc.If you don't have replacement parts lying around to do some troubleshooting, i guess the best way is to go to the pc specialist...Could cost you some money though...Maybe sell that boat???lolgrtWIllem

Hi,Don't have to sell the boat and even better, can bring FS9 now on board.After a short visit at the dealer (50 dollar) everything is back to normal.It turned out to be a lot of dust and a whole bunch of virusses.Jan
