Degrees to Decimal

Im workintg on airport W92 I entered the lat/lon in a decimal conversion program I found on the web. It says however that it will not display a negative value. So for the following lat/lon wich if any of the decimal equivalant would have a minus signs. You can easily get the decimal degrees by dividing the minutes by 60, eg 48.95/60 = 0.815833333. Then just add your degrees.In most programs South and West will be minus and North and East will then be plus.

The negative sign is a common convention for South and West. I asked the question because despite having the decimal coordinates, My AI traffic never appeared at the airport.I eventually realizeed that one of the numbers needs the minus sign but I did not know wich. So to solve it. I went to the terraserver home page, entered the LAT/LON and the decimal equivalant is displayed in the status bar befor the picture loads. Now, both W92 and KGAI hav AI traffic.
