AFCAD question for single rnwy no taxiway type airports

Recommended Posts

Guest

Okay, So I have this airport(pictured below)Its just an asphalt strip with a parking area and a turn around section at Rnwy 5. AS others have, I too have noticed that when my planes taxi to Rnway 5 on the asphalt, they get oin position on the grass and take off. Can one use AFCAD to have the AI treat the asphalt as a taxiway, turn around and then takeoff from asphalt rather than the grass?Pete

Yes, you can. Just move the runway to the place it should be in AFCAD and then add the taxiways (I guess that will only be two small pieces near the end of the runway in your case). Then they should use the taxiways and runway for taxiing and not the grass.ArnoMember NL2000 Teamhttp://home.wanadoo.nl/arno.gerretsen

Here is the AFCAD for airport W92. As you see it here all planes hold shortfor 5/23 at the red dot near the parking for runway 23. This is good since it can take a while to taxi to runway 5. The hol short at the turn around is completely ignored so I'm gonna remove that. BUt as it is right now, all planes taxi to 5 and turn around just fine. Only they take off from the grass to the left of 5. I was thinking of using an overlay thats sole purpose is to taxi and was hoping that it wod work out. If not, I think my only choice is to set up the taxiway to straddle an edge of the runway and when the airplne turns around it would be lined up right. I hope a better code is designed to facilitate these kind of airstrips. At another airport, I noticed that the paths in the parking are must be pretty open. I mean you cant have the space to close to each other and to the path as they would be in reality. Otherwise the AI aircraft think your blocking thier way. Its as if the AI are surrounded by an invisible bounding box that is twice thier size.Pete
