Best OS for FS2K2

It's time to upgrade, so what are your opinions with regard to a system primarily used for FS2K2: 2000 Pro or XP Pro?Thanks.-Boyd Barker WestWind Airlines BOS Hub Manager

That depends on a lot of factors... Generally XP is considered to be a bit faster and a bit more compatible with software and hardware than 2k but 2k is considered more stable and reliable. If you plan on keeping your current computer for awhile, go with XP. If this is just a short-term upgrade you could go either way, depending on your needs. I personally use Win2k because I like its inherent stability and security (compared to other MS OSes), but my machine is mostly used for surfing the net (I hate that cliche) and programming, with a little gaming tossed in the mix (primarily MSFS).Max Cowgill

Do yourself a favor, get XP Professional -- I mean, I like, know and support both (professionally) but, for home use, Windows XP is the one!J. Padron---

I use XP at home, and find it to be perfectly stable and compatable with all my applications. It (and the 3rd party apps) have gone through a rapid maturing phase which has knocked out lots of former incompatabilities. My vote is with XP as well - Its Microsoft's closest effort to making an operating system match the hype they spin. :-)-Greg

Here is one thing to consider that no one else has mentioned. If you use XP, then you have to activate your software with MS (either online or by voice). No problem, right? Well, keep in mind that XP is licensed to run on one computer only. So, if you aspire to enhance you flighsim experience with multiple monitors/computers, you will have to buy a new XP OS for each computer! This is not the case if you run 2000pro. If I had it to do over again, I would have gone with Windows 2000.
