How do you do CSG in GMax? The docs say to select and object and click the Boolean button. Only problem is I don't see a Boolean button.

I dunno what csg is, but the boolean button will appear after you click on compound object...thats in a drop down menu found by clicking on the arrow next to the words "standard primitives".

Thanks! CSG is Constructive Solid Geometry. It's used for doing things like making a tube by subtracting a smaller cylinder from a larger one. Gmax apparently calls it Boolean. I want to slice the top off a sphere to use for the dome on an arena.

I see, you used the acronym so casually, I must assume its standard jargon is some circles....what industry/software uses that jargon?Bob B

Sorry, I thought it was a pretty widely used term. I guess it's a raytracing term. I've seen it used in older CAD programs too. With the advent of nurbs, and meshes I guess boolean is now the accepted term in the CAD community. I see Rhinoceros uses boolean.Check out www.povray.org. This is a really cool program that creates photorealistic graphics. I may use it to generate some textures for FS2K2!

Hi Bob yup the above term goes a long way back in the CGI world a boolie is main way one combines what you would know as primitives(I.E. parametric objects like boxes, tubes etc). Hope this helps you as well. Dan
