gmax problems with boolean/union and texturing

Recommended Posts

Hi,Have spent hours on that but to no avail. An object I created is made up of a number of layers of 'boxes' of different size. Now I wanted to 'merge' them together using the 'compound object' option and boolean operation 'union'. When I do this with two simple boxes it works flawlessly and after the operation operand B has disappeared from the list of objects to select from. When I do this with that complex object then operand B is still listed and I can still select the object that I used as operand B.Texturing doesn't work either. In most attempts I get the material to appear on the object's polygons, in some attempts the texture does not show. When I try to do the Unwrap UVW modifier, the result is never visible on the object in e.g. the perspective viewport.Do I need to select all visibly polygons in order for texturing to work ? Or is there anything else that I may be doing wrong ? Does anyone have an idea on why the boolean/union operation fails for me with that complex object ?Thanks very much in advance for any possible help.Cheers,Siggy

Solved the booleand/union problem. Should have used option 'move' under 'Pick Operand B'.Still no success with the texturing though :-(.Cheers,Siggy

For the texturing, have you tried flipping the polygon? Sometimes the wrong side gets painted. Sometimes Compound objects don't have all the polygons faced correct (I have had that with complex objects).Hope this helps,Arno
