Animating two scenery objects

Recommended Posts

Guest hefy_jefy

Hi everyone,First a big thank you to Arno and his excellent tutorial on using a radio frequency to control an animation, I am no programmer but just by following his directions and sample files I am ALMOST there...The problem is the second hanger door! I started simply with one door and after a couple of false starts (mostly typos which resulted in some rather interesting door movements) I have the right door working. Arno mentions that it is just a matter of creating a second table for the other object and I can do that and called it anim_2, but if you simply repeat all the code for the second door BGLC gives all kinds of errors. I am sure the solution is either putting the various bits of code in the right place or defining more variables.I could of course make the hanger in two gmax files with one door each and stick them together.....Geoff

Hi Geoff,Can you post the errors and the code you made here? Then I can have a look at them (or mail them to me if it is too much to fit into a post :)).Arno

If the world should blow itself up, the last audible voice would be that of an expert saying it can't be done.

Hello Arno,Thanks for replying, I thought you were busy away or something? Never mind, I have struggled through and gotten my feet considerably wetter than I intended figuring out the BGL code but - it now works! The main problem was that of course you can't just repeat all the label words, you need to create new ones for the second (and subsequent) objects. That and a few other silly (I can see now) errors, for example the code for checking the status of the NAV frequency only needs to be in the _0.ASM file once.In general, my two hanger doors operate beautifully when I select NAV 112.0, I have made the hanger into and API (with FSRegen) and now I can put in anwhere I need it, (thanks for the information on that also)Now the only problem is that sometimes (about once every 10 operations) the doors cylce twice, any ideas on this would be welcome. Thanks againGeoff

Hi Geoff,Nice to hear it is working now. I am indeed doing a traineeship in Brussels and therefore I am visiting the forum less (but I still take a look now and then, can't resist it :)).About the problem you mention, I have heard it more. I think it has something to do with the initialization of the user variables, but I haven't found a solution yet.Arno
