Starting out?

Can anyone direct me to a source for basic scenery design? I would like to create my local airport for FS2002 and Im not sure where to start. I am familiar with using GMAX, but Im not sure how to work with the scenery files in MS2002. Questions...Is it possible to work with or edit default MSFS2002 scenery or must every creation be from scratch and placed over the default? I would like to alter an existing airport (KBHB). Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Working with GMAX seems to be straight forward, but I want to make sure my creating will make it to FS2002 before I invest too much time.

Well if you have a basic knowledge of gmax then it's not too hard todo up a few buildings and place them at your local field. You willhave to do an "exclude" to remove the default meshes. As for the files gmax has the exporter so you can get your models into 2002 without too much hassle. Hope this is of some help in getting you started. Dan
