One big bgl vs many little ones?

I'm working on a scenery that's sparse but large - just a few dozen objects spread over massive areas of space - about 400nm x 100nm right now. It's presently set up as three massive blgs, each just over 100x100nm but each with only 12-15 objects in it.From a file-management point of view this is easier, but is it better/worse from an fps/FS2k2-running point of view? Does it actually matter? There's no excludes or flattens in this scenery, just macro objects. Which method is least likely to interfere with already installed addon scenery? Thanks, Brian.

I don't think it makes a difference. Each object has his own Area inside the BGL file and the range for the Area, etc have the most influence on the performance. So it makes no real difference if you put all those Area's in one file or make a single file for each of them.Arno

Arno,Would the same apply if you wanted to create a series of excludes for default airfields over a large area?It sounds an odd request but the new UK photo scenery shows that many of the FS default airfields are exceedingly inaccurate.

If you make an exclude file, the SCASM command generates a small new BGL for the exclude. So in an exclude BGL there is always one exclude and you can not put them all together.Arno

Arno, perhaps I'm confused. The exclude example below shows the combination of exclude statements in one file. I've been successfully combining excludes for some time. Is this what you've said "can't" be done?Bob BernsteinSet( areamx 64 )Header( 3 47:30:00.0000 45:30:00.0000 -116:30:00.0000 -125:00:00.0000 )GenExcl( e:flyingelma2002sceneryexcl1.bgl 1 46:59:31.8 46:59:25.8 -123:25:47.4 -123:25:56.4 46:59:31.8 46:59:25.8 -123:25:47.4 -123:25:56.4 )GenExcl( e:flyingelma2002sceneryexcl2.bgl 1 46:59:26.4 46:59:25.2 -123:25:34.2 -123:26:06.6 46:59:26.4 46:59:25.2 -123:25:34.2 -123:26:06.6 )GenExcl( e:flyingelma2002sceneryexcl3.bgl 1 46:57:39 46:57:34.8 -123:28:10.8 -123:28:37.2 46:57:39 46:57:34.8 -123:28:10.8 -123:28:37.2 )GenExcl( e:flyingelma2002sceneryexcl4.bgl 1 46:57:49.2 46:57:38.4 -123:27:41.4 -123:27:55.2 46:57:49.2 46:57:38.4 -123:27:41.4 -123:27:55.2 )
