Disappearing taxiway lines

Recommended Posts

Guest

Hi Folks,I have a small problem... I built a small regional airport and the taxiway centerlines keep coming and going. From on viewpoint, the line is there, from others, there's nada. More mystical (to me), at night, all centerline lights are there.I used a single textured polygon for the taxiway itself with a yellow 1 ft-road layed over it.Could someone please give me advice how to fix that? IS it a matter of layer? In that case, which layer uses the runway...?Thanks for any help,Torsten

It sounds like a v2 value problem to me. Try to increase the v2 value in the reference point and see if that helps.Arno

Hi Torsten! This is a question which was answered numerous times... :) Okay, first of all, do not forget to flatten the terrain. Next use layers:8 - ground polys12 - rivers16 - roads20 - taxiways24 - runwaysNext thing is regarding these taxilines. If You use Airport or FSSC, change thin road taxiway to FS2002 taxiway line, which btw uses layer 9... It is even a little bit thinner but it has no problem with dissapearing and by my personal opinion, this kind of taxiway line will be supported for future FS's, while old style roads will soon seize to exist.Best regards,Goran BrumenFS Slovenija 2002 teamhttp://slovenia.avsim.net

In Airport the new style taxilines are drawn on layer 40, that way they appear over the runway.Unfortunately it is not possible to use them always, because they only have one color. And on many airport you will need not only yellow, but also red and white lines. In such cases the old small roads seem the best option. I hope MS will add more colors to the new lines in the next version, otherwise it looks like we are going to have a problem. One note, if the terrain is flattened properly, you don't have to use layers anymore. I did it this way in a scenery made with GroundMaker and not using layer allows it to put more polygons in an Area block, thereby making the scenery a bit more efficient. Also eliminating the LayerCall makes it a little bit more efficient of course (from source code point of view). I think FSSC also has this option (called no layer or so).Arno

HI arno,I have this problem too, but I'm using Groundmaker and don't see a V2 option for a line. Is there a way to correct this in groundmaker?Another question: I just saw on the Groundmaker site that the are problems with sceneries made with this tool in FS2002 but until now I didn't experience any kind of prblems! What kind of problems are they refering? And another: is there a way to "decompile" a scenery that I made in Groundmaker, so I can start using Airport for Windows for example?Thank you very much in advance.Miguel

I haven't seen problems with those values myself, they are ussually correct.>Another question: I just saw on the Groundmaker site that >the are problems with sceneries made with this tool in >FS2002 but until now I didn't experience any kind of >prblems! What kind of problems are they refering?Don't know. I haven't found much problems. Only the taxilighting doesn't work 100% if I remember correct. In general most things work fine.>And another: is there a way to "decompile" a scenery that I >made in Groundmaker, so I can start using Airport for >Windows for example? You could try BGLAnalyzer to make a SCA file out of it (or use the save SCASM source). Maybe Airport can read the source then (doesn't work fine with all SCASM sources).Arno
