Excluding existing water in LWM area??

Recommended Posts

I know this has been addressed here before, but I can't recall the exact switch or syntax, and the search feature seems to be completely unmanageable today for some reason. I'm creating a bgl in which I add a bunch of new LWM polys to a cell. How do I exclude the existing water in an area when creating a new LWM poly in that area? I thought there was a switch in one of the macros somewhere that was simpler than creating a new areaFill for each area. Am I remembering it right or is there more to it?thanks,

Hi BillI believe FS water is under all layers and can't really be excluded. If I'm correct you can place LWM Land on water, such as an island but for deep water I think a landclass value has to be used first. Also, VTP Poly's can be used as well with layer 8 or higher.Time for an experiment maybe :) Hope this helps.Ken

Thanks, Ken. I probably didn't help things any by using inaccurate wording. I think what I want to do is not to exclude water per se (as you noted, that isn't possible) but to fill in a LOD13 area with land and then cut out my water in LMWDraw. I thought I remembered somebody saying there was a switch to turn mask over default water in each LOD13 area a LWM mask touched, but I might have dreamed that!thanks,

>I thought I remembered somebody saying there was >a switch to turn mask over default water in each LOD13 area >a LWM mask touched, but I might have dreamed that! Hey, you didn't dream! Check this: LWMDataAreaDrawPolygons 2,1,1,08,20 LWMPoly2 9,0,0,-9999,0LWMPoint 0, 0LWMPoint 255, 0LWMPoint 255, 255...You change the second number in LWMDataAreaDrawPolygons to 1, and that changes the whole LOD13 area to land. Then just cut out the water. Works like a dream. ;-)You can also use Areafill command if you don't want to draw any water in the LOD13 area, it is a fast and easy way.Greetings,Tatu
