Autogen

I have worked throught the autogen tutorial on Niagara and can get it to work ok.BUT I can't seem to make it work anayplace else. Here is whhat I am trying to do:Recreate my home town as an added textured area where MS left it out. Here is what I have done:I have created a scenery file using FS Architect that correctly displays the area. I have used flattening polygons to flattten the default terrain and have overlaid them with urban textures. This is OK as far as it goes but does not give me any buildings or trees.SO I started thinking autogen was the way to do it.I used the working Niagara Area image to determine size, compression etc and modified my textures to be the same. I annotated my textures and saved the an file in the same folder as the textures with no luck.I even tried using the exact same textures and annotated file as the Niagara example by just assigining those textures to my polygons and recompiling. But the autogen features that show up in this texture in the Niagara area DO NOT show up in this texture in my scenery.Thinking it might be the flayyening polygons I removed them and recompiled using the Niagara textures in my scenery. Naturally all of the textures do longer show up because of underlying terrain features but neither did the autogen features show up?Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong or assit me in any way?Ray Hallockhttp://www.eagles-nest.net/rayair/

AutoGen does not work on section 9 SCASM polygons, it does only work on the mesh style polygons (VTP/LWM) of Fs2002. And even then it does not work fine on custum textures (only works fine on LandClass textures and CUSTOM textures).Arno

OK. Your comment "only works fine on LandClass textures and CUSTOM textures" confuses me. The texture used in the tutorial is a 256 x 256 dxt1 texture and so is my new one, But even so, why doesn't the tutorial texture work in my scenery but does work in the tutorial scenery? Is there any way at all to create new scenery for an area (i.e add a missing town) that uses autogen?ThanksRayhttp://www.eagles-nest.net/rayair/

Hi Ray,It is not about the texture used, but about the type of polygon it is applied to. I am not sure what the tutorial uses, I think it is a CUSTOM texture (placed with resample I think). So you can use that way to place a missing town or make a VTP polygon. If you use that with a default landclass texture then the autogen will also show.Arno
