March 1, 200323 yr Commercial Member Has anyone experimented with importing aircraft carriers from CFS2 into FS2002? I'd love to practice carrier ops in "Briefing Time" on a period carrier if possible. I know you can import CFS2 scenery into FS2002, but I'm not sure if you can make them landable. Any insight would be appreciated.thanks, Bill Womack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Visit my FS Blog or follow me on Twitter (username: bwomack). March 3, 200323 yr Hi Bill, I believe there was a zip that added several CFS2 ships to FS2002, I can't remember the name off hand. I know I have one zip that adds several that you can control (ie. drive), very interesting! LOLI only wish you could make them dynamic like in CFS2. I imported Jordans Huey into CFS2 and I love landing on the moving modern naval vessels, very cool! I am sure there is a way, just I haven't figured it out.Regards, Michaelhttp://mysite.verizon.net/res052cd/mybannercva1.jpg Best, Michael KDFW
March 3, 200323 yr Author Commercial Member Thanks for the reply, Michael. Yes, I saw the CFS2 ships add-on and I've got it. Haven't tried it yet, though. My main interest was in landable aircraft carriers. I know CFS2 had a bunch of 'em, but I haven't figured out how to import them into FS2002 yet. Also, and I may be remembering this wrong, didn't CFS2 have moving carriers that you could land on? That would seem to up the ante a little, challenge-wise. What I really want to do is re-create Dolittle's raid on Tokyo using Briefing Time!thanks, Bill Womack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Visit my FS Blog or follow me on Twitter (username: bwomack). March 10, 200323 yr Author Commercial Member That's great! Any idea about a release date? This would make a fantastic companion to Briefing Time. March 14, 200323 yr Well just got feedback from my CFS2 beta testers so I am making the needed changes and then sending back for one final test before release. Once I know the model has what they want, I will create a BGL of FS2k2. Drop me a line Bill... [email protected] to need a FS2k2 tester :-lol I am going to see if I can find the coordinates of the Doolittle takeoff. Some pics of the work going on...http://www.flightsimdesign.com/size4.jpgsailing past Fisherman's Wharfhttp://www.flightsimdesign.com/frisco3.jpg
March 17, 200323 yr Briefing Time passing over USS Hornet CV-8. About 700 miles from Japan. Lat/ Long N 36.04 E 153.10 OK I got her in and painted... now I have to figure out how to put a platform on her. :-hmmm Would it be safe to assume I can do this in FSSC? http://www.flightsimdesign.com/fs2k2hornet.jpg
March 17, 200323 yr Author Commercial Member I got the bgl last night, thanks. I haven't been able to do a flyover because of a nasty computer problem that's plaguing me, but hopefully I can get it sorted out tonight. I think you're right about how to go about putting a landable deck on her... I'm no FSSC expert, but in Airport 2.6 you can create invisible hardened runways, and I assume it's the same for FSSC. It's just a matter of creating length, width and orientation to match it up as closely as possible with the deck. The Hornet looks great, btw! Very nice work. I can't wait to actually take off from her! Be sure and send me the landable version as soon as it's done and I'll give it a spin.thanks,Bill Bill Womack ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Visit my FS Blog or follow me on Twitter (username: bwomack).
