GR2K right hand rule

From Ground2k for beginners............................................. "because of technical limitations, you should draw your coast in such a way that the land part of the coast is on the right-hand side of the line. This will ensure that land and water are placed correctly."??????????????Does this mean the coastlines always have to be drawn clockwise?Suppose one has to re-draw (the middle third) part of the coastline on the EASTERN side of an island? The land is now on the left side of the coastline.......:-spacecraft

As far as I understand you should imagine yourself walking (or flying :) along the coastline when you draw your lines in G2K. You should always go in the direction that makes the land stay on your right. So on the eastern shore of an island you should go south (clockwise around the island). On your map the land will be on the left side, but if you imagine yourself going along the coast then you realise it's on your right.Bamce

Thanks....I guessed as much, and will go clockwise...since I am having other problems, I wasn't sure what might have been the cause.
