Texture tiling

Hi,I've heard some time ago that there should exist a program for creating textures, with has the ability to tile those textures in the program, so you can see if the boundaries fit.Many years ago, this sort of programs where also used for making background bitmaps for desktops (I had one long ago).I want to use one for creating fs ground textures. Does anyone know of an add-on for photoshop or a stand-alone program like this exists?Kind Regards,Johan Calj

The only thing I often do is, when I have made a texture I copy it into an image that is 3x3 times larger, so I have to place 9 copies to fill it. After that you can also see if it tiles correct.If you select the image in PhotoShop and then choose Edit -> Define patern. After that you can make the bigger image and use Edit -> Fill. There you can then choose the pattern you just made.

This is what i do now, but there seems to be real editing with tiling programs. So when you edit, the result is shown immediatly.Regards,Johan

Hi johanI use a program called BmpCrop V1.7 from http://www.mnwright.btinternet.co.uk/index.htm to create smaller images 256*256 from larger image, lots of good Graphics utilities thereI used a mask to edit my texture so it did fit as a foot print texture for a background(Grass), although this did take some experimentationApologies, if this wasn't what you mean'tRegardsDave

Closest thing I've seen (recently) would be using multiple views of the same image in Gimp. Other programs may have a similar option. The trouble is, the image doesn't update till the mouse is released (not a big thing) and you can't have the images seamlessly next to each other since they have scrollbars on the edges. (which could be a bit annoying)A really really really old graphics program I used to play with had a "mirror" function that could have been used for making tileable images, except that program was for an Apple IIE and used proprietary graphics file formats so was useless to other programs.
