Second computer?

Recommended Posts

Guest Lobaeux4

What would y'all consider to be the min specs for a second computer running wideview with FS2K2. My main comp is an AMD 1700 with a GeForce 3 ti and 512 DDR RAM, but I've got a pentium 500 with 256 RAM and a Speedstar Pro vid card, and a pentium 233 MHZ, with a Speedstar Pro Vid card. Anyone think these could work as wideview clients?Joe

Hi Joe,The question is not whether they will work as clients (they should), but how well they will work ;) ? I am quite happy with my current system, although there are some minor issues with stuttering on the clients (seen by many others as well). If you want to see the specs of other systems, check out the WidevieW support board at Escape Airlines Pilot Lounge (link below). In general, I would say that people get very good results with a 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM (I have PC133, which works fine), and a 64MB video card (notice that mine is in the PCI slot, which is what I had on hand). All of this should be possible to build for well under $500 (US). Once you try WidevieW, there's no going back :-) . My recommendation is try out what you have, and if you don't think it's working well enough, then upgrade the MB and VC.Here is the link:[http://www.escapeairlines.com/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.pl]
