Taxiway lines and autogen excluding

Recommended Posts

Guest gorchi

Hello,I have just struck on something that appears to be quite a problem. I have spent 3 hours deleting object from scenery and finally came to conclusion, that taxiway lines do exclude autogen. On my major airport I have used a lot of them and they are much needed as autogen trees are. Trees are really close to the airport (okay, in limitation for CAT IIIb operations airport) but centerlines exclude trees for 1-2 km away! I have tried with inserting dummy rotated call like this (code is from SCA file produced by FSSC):; Holding pri WigWagu na TWY FArea( 5 N46:13:34.2499 E014:27:32.4834 15 ) LayerCall( :lblLayer 40 ) RotatedCall( :lblEnd 0 0 0 ) Jump( : ):lblLayer RefPoint( rel :lblEnd 0.3048 N46:13:34.2499 E014:27:32.4834 v1= 15000 v2= 980 ) TaxiMarkings( HRWY 27.7857639353 37.3451348443 -27.9527695773 -37.8280795171 BREAK ):lblEnd ReturnEndAUnfortunatelly that dummy RotatedCall doesn't help. Taxiway lines appear okay but trees are not in vicinity. Does anybody have a nice solution? Thin roads are out of the question since they exclude autogen also...Best regards,Goran BrumenFS Slovenija 2002 teamhttp://slovenia.avsim.net

Hi Goran.Arno would probably be much better in responding, but here's an idea:"v2= 980"That's going to exclude autogen for 980 meters. If your taxilines were in much smaller chunks... say 100 meters, then your refpoints could have a v2 of 100, and the autogen would be preserved.Another idea might be to use a transformcall... I experimented with setting transformcalls at extreme elevations ( 32000 meters ), and 'projecting' objects to the ground... ( they don't exclude autogen at that height ). :)I haven't tried this, just tossing around ideas.===============Set( FSVers 0x800 );Header( 1 N39:52:52.19 N39:52:52.19 W079:44:30.00 W079:44:30.00 )LatRange( N39:52:52.19 N39:52:52.19 );Area( A N39:52:52.19 W079:44:30.00 100 ); PerspectiveCall( :_object_start ) ShadowCall( :_object_start ) Jump( : );:_object_start RefPoint( rel :fail_return 0.50 N39:52:52.20 W079:44:30.00 V1= 0 V2= 1000 ) TransformCall( :call_object 0 32767 0 0 0000 0 0000 0 0000 );:call_object CallLibObj( 0 C545A27F 11D2E2EC 1000849C 2AE60C5A );:fail_return Return;EndA======================This places a library object near Brandonville, WV. I stopped experimentation when Arno discovered a correct v2 will preserve autogen around objects. Note the HUGE v2, and it has no effect on the autogen, because I'm offsetting the refpoint into outerspace ( 32767 meters altitude ).Dick

Hi Rhumba!I saw that v2 value too and have also put in smaller value, let's say 30 or so... Unfortunately there was no change regarding autogen, only taxiway lines disappeared prematurely :( But it might be worth trying TransformCall option as well and dividing those lines in smaller chuncks. Yesterday I run out of time, I'll try later today. Thanks for these ideas.Oh btw... regarding huge v2 values. I saw really enormous v2 values for polygons and long taxiway lines like 11000 or so. Polygons used scale 0.1 or 0.2 while taxiwaylines use scale 0.3048. My guess is that v2 written in RefPoint multiplied with scale would give right v2 value. I haven't test the dummy RotatedCall with the new taximarking commands, I'll try to do that. But for my taxilines and roads made with the old Road commands it works fine (the dummy call). I think that would still be the easiest solution for you.

Hi,can anyone confirm that ILS Holding, Runway Holding and Taxiway holding lines exclude autogen? No problem with centrelines, double solid lines, double dashed lines... nut these three give me a big headache.Here is the code from FSSC, same position, same points, the first one is simple solid+dashed line and I have autogen trees 50m away no problem, second one is ILS Holding line, autogen trees are approx 2 km away :(((; Taxiway Line 2 (solid+dashed line)Area( 5 N46:14:03.6667 E014:26:28.7452 15 ) LayerCall( :lblLayer 40 ) Jump( : ):lblLayer RefPoint( rel :lblEnd 0.3048 N46:14:03.6667 E014:26:28.7452 v1= 15000 v2= 980 ) TaxiMarkings( SD -34.7772228518 25.9183144558 SD -20.6690507872 15.4201876119 SD -9.5149161697 8.201699143 SD 3.9368476281 -2.6248320808 SD 17.3890119191 -12.4669511511 SD 37.7296583264 -27.2311309893 BREAK ):lblEnd ReturnEndA; Taxiway Line 2 (ILS holding)Area( 5 N46:14:03.6667 E014:26:28.7452 15 ) LayerCall( :lblLayer 40 ) Jump( : ):lblLayer RefPoint( rel :lblEnd 0.3048 N46:14:03.6667 E014:26:28.7452 v1= 15000 v2= 980 ) TaxiMarkings( HILS -34.7772228518 25.9183144558 -20.6690507872 15.4201876119 HILS -20.6690507872 15.4201876119 -9.5149161697 8.201699143 HILS -9.5149161697 8.201699143 3.9368476281 -2.6248320808 HILS 3.9368476281 -2.6248320808 17.3890119191 -12.4669511511 HILS 17.3890119191 -12.4669511511 37.7296583264 -27.2311309893 BREAK ):lblEnd ReturnEndAIf anyone can spot important difference, please let me know. Not taxiways, but related problem ... Can *.asm file be edited in similar fashion to preserve autogen? I made gMax model of high voltage power line aprroximately size of 1 LOD8. It runs and shows nicely across my scenery, however in the middle of it there is clear rectangular autogen exclusion zone.I can always place this into adjacent and now yet empty LOD 8 Area and offset the hv line to cut across the LOD8 Area with the scenery. But I may come across visibility problems as I experience it slightly already. And what should I decide to expand my scenery. Perhaps I should look for the area without autogen to place the center of high volt line scene, so exclusion will be not so obvious. Any other advice? Ted

Hi Goran.Have you tried this?Set( FSVers 0x800 );Header( 1 N46:14:03.6667.19 N46:14:03.6667 E014:26:28.7452 E014:26:28.7452 )LatRange( N46:14:03.6667.19 N46:14:03.6667 );;; Taxiway Line 2 (solid+dashed line)Area( 5 N46:14:03.6667 E014:26:28.7452 15 )LayerCall( :lblLayer 40 )Jump( : ):lblLayerRefPoint( rel :lblEnd 0.3048 N46:14:03.6667 E014:26:28.7452 v1= 15000 v2= 980 )TaxiMarkings(SD -34.7772228518 25.9183144558SD -20.6690507872 15.4201876119SD -9.5149161697 8.201699143SD 3.9368476281 -2.6248320808SD 17.3890119191 -12.4669511511SD 37.7296583264 -27.2311309893BREAK )TaxiMarkings(HILS -34.7772228518 25.9183144558 -20.6690507872 15.4201876119HILS -20.6690507872 15.4201876119 -9.5149161697 8.201699143HILS -9.5149161697 8.201699143 3.9368476281 -2.6248320808HILS 3.9368476281 -2.6248320808 17.3890119191 -12.4669511511HILS 17.3890119191 -12.4669511511 37.7296583264 -27.2311309893BREAK ):lblEndReturnEndA============================This forces them to share the refpoint... just an idea.Dick

Hi Rhumba!I haven't to be honest. I have divided my long taxilines into small ones and this gives me around 30 taxiway lines in FSSC output file. Unfortunately (or maybe luckly also) every polygon, road, taxiwayline etc is in its own area what would mean:1. with joining them I shuld recalculate poits2. with joining them I should increase v2, which consequently would again make exclude on autogenYesterday I have been playing with this stuff and I have found out that one of biggest exclusion was made by a polygon surrounding 3000m long runway. So I divided it to three parts to have autogen near the airport. I have also changed all taxiway/runway/ILS holdings with solid+dashed line and now I happily live with autogen nearby although these lines on the airport are not in correct.Rhumba anyway, it is interesting proposal but with taxiwaylines it seems there is not v2 issue but rather a bug (or unpleasant feature?) in MS coding of these holdings. Thanks for Your comment.Best regards,Goran BrumenFS Slovenija 2002 teamhttp://slovenia.avsim.net

Hi Goran... Re:>>"can anyone confirm that ILS Holding, Runway Holding and Taxiway holding lines exclude autogen?"<<**Yes, I have experienced problems with the 'Hold' lines being AGN killers. The fix (for me) was to be sure to make each one within it's own Area/RefPt and to assign (seemingly) ridiculously low values for V1= and V2= (i.e. 2400 and 60)and placed the "HRWY" lines at layer 16. I have not noticed any problems with 'approaching visibility' of hold lines made in this manner.Use of dummy rotated call did not seem to affect the AGN problem when using the SCASM taxilines, although it always seems to help when using ground polygons at (default) layer 8.J.R
