Ground2K problems

Hi !I'm using Ground2K to edit coastlines for Nuuk (Capitol of Greenland), because MS FS's coastline aren't very good.Probelm #1:I have a new coastline and it looks good, but for some "areas" the "land" is always water.Have tried many things to make it "land" instead of water, but without any luck. You can look at these images:http://www.kalak.gl/flightsim/Files/Nuuk_Coastline.gifhttp://www.kalak.gl/flightsim/Files/Nuuk_Coastline_2.gifWhat I did:1) Make the areas "Flatten Water"2) Excluded coastlines (to remove the original coastline, layer 8)3) Draw a new coastline, using "Poly with shore", LWM Poly Land. This maded in layer 9.All the new coastline are made in ONE line, except for the islands.Problem #2:When I try to make a texture polygon, it won't show the texture in FS. I can see the the polycon line itself. The texture is in 256 colors, and in DXT1 format (using DXTBMP).All this I did after reading the great tutorial: "Ground2K for beginners".Greetings from Greenland

Hi KalaK.The first problem is caused by the fact that there are landclass assignments that show water as the ground texture. These are not waterclass, but landclass with water texture. 70% of the world has water as the land type.Load the worldlc.bgl into the sim, and you'll fing those areas in question ( by lat-long ) as having a water texture number. One solution is to make a landclass BGL to change the landclass assignment. Ground2K can do this.Another solution is to make a VTP2 poly instead of a land mask. That poly can have an assignment as a layer 8 or more. It can be one of the landclass numbers. It will look as land. **Here's a poly with shoreline, VTP2 poly layer 8 with a shoreline as VTP2 layer 9 ( FS2004 ). Ahh... the ponding surf as I golf. :)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/31429.jpg**EDITED:We may need some experimentation here. I thought the island would act as land, but it doesn't... Hmmm....Dick

Hi !Thanks for your answer.I tried to do what you describe. Make a VTP2 poly. You can see the result:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/31441.jpgThis is a "clean" test, where I haven't exclude, changed the water or landclass etc.I can't see the textures as well inside the Ground2K application.

Hi KalaK.The picture appears to show the Layer number is not correct. It must be greater than 7 or it will not display over the water, but will be masked by the default LWM.Also, you do need to place a landclass BGL in the affected area, or the plane won't sit on land...So the best resort is probably to make a landclass BGL, then place the land as an LWM Poly/with shore. The solid land with VTP was actually for VTP1 polys, which are no longer supported in FS2004.Dick

Hi again !It's showing the texture now.But it wasn't acting like solid land.So I used EZ-Landclass to define landclass. After this it's acting as solid land.
