Question - Watermask Dominance Over Ground2K??

Recommended Posts

I created a watermasked area using Terrabuilder. It appears correctly in FS2004. Now I want to re-introduce parts of the original underlying texture by using Landfills from Ground2K. The problem is that none of the Ground2K items appear. I also tried to just place a straight section of road accross the water area but it would not appear. The watermasked BGL is at a lower priority in the Scenery Library than the Ground2K BGLs. The only way I can see the Ground2K items is to place the watermasked BGL below the normal North America East scenery of FS2004. Now the watermasked area does not appear since it is superceded by the normal textures/scenery. Therefore, it seems that if a watermask is placed at a higher priority than the FS2004 normal textures/scenery there is no way to add any items via Ground2K ????Dick KLBE

Hi Dick.By watermask, I'll assume you made a photoreal BGL from a resampled Terrabuilder image.VTP and LWM are excluded by photoreal. You cannot draw over a photoreal placed texture. If the slices are placed as vertically-flipped VTP2 polys, then you can draw over them. This, of course, has nothing to do with Ground2K.Dick

As may have been guessed I am trying to place Terrascene roads over FS2004 textures. I tried the watermask alpha in Terrabuilder but it cut out the textures of FS2004 all the way down to the base water background. Is there any way to stop at the FS2004 texture level so I see the original textures overlayed with my lines/roads? My transparent background is black (0,0,0)Dick KLBE

If you place CUSTOM photo textures transparant parts always become water. I think you can better use VTP/LWM polygons as Dick already suggested.
