excluding buildings

Recommended Posts

its easy to do...you need scasm, available free from www.scasm.de. then in notepad, or any text editor, write a short file. Here's an example....you'll see the obvious latitude and longitudes showing in both the header and the exclude lines....just be sure of the order of them, it goes northmost lat, southmost lat, eastmost longitude, westmost longitude. Use positive numbers for north latitude and east longitude, negatives for the opposite.an example:Header( 1 52:34:10.8 52:32:52.2 13:19:57 13:15:3.6 )Exclude( 01 52:34:10.8 52:32:52.2 13:19:57 13:15:3.6 )I like to use "top down" view to establish my nw corner and se corner...it can be as small as you like. Once you write your text file, save it as "myfile.txt". Then drag it onto scasm.exe and your exclude bgl will compile. Put it in your scenery folder and your done.

Hi Gary,I used Flight Simulator Scenery Creator to eliminate groups of terminals and individual buildings, using: misc object, exclude. If the exclude areas are kept small, and don't include the reference point of the tarmac/runway portion of the scenery, I believe they will keep the area you want and eliminate the objects. It worked for me at Newark Airport(kewr). You do have to put up with a few *_exc.bgl files though. There may be a way to combine these, but I hav'nt figured it out yet. Let me know if you need more details. You can probably do this in Airport for windows too... I just don't know that program well yet.Hope this helps,

yes, this works. The header must include the area of both exclude statements.An example...two buildings at Seatac KSEA excluded by this file:Header( 1 47:27:18 47:26:49.8 -122:18:1.8 -122:18:14.4 )Exclude( 01 47:26:58.8 47:26:49.8 -122:18:1.8 -122:18:14.4 )Exclude( 01 47:27:18 47:27:13.8 -122:18:2.4 -122:18:7.2 )

Ok I used Airport to make a exclude...with no luck. So I used its code. this is what I made.Header( 1 34.95167 34.60167 -92.34617 -92.09617)Exclude(01 34:43.50822 34:43.69448 -092:13.18147 -092:13.36837)and as you see the terminal remains...but the tower was gone lol.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/42751.jpg

This probably depends on how big you made the exclude. The RefPoint of the terminal must be inside it. So try to make the exclude a bit bigger. For help on the meaning of the commands I would advise you to read the SCASM docs: http://scasm.de/doc/index.htm

I have been following this thread because I have a thorn I want to overcome. There is a dirt apron at 27W in washington State that I'm trying to remove. I have excluded the runway, the grass area around the field and runway, even the default hanger there, but the pesky apron stays. Here is my exclude:Header( 1 47.94307 47.69307 -120.84123 -120.59123 )GenExcl( 0 47:49.06287 47:49.10823 -120:42.88374 -120:42.99772 47:49.06287 47:49.10823 -120:42.88374 -120:42.99772 )I used airport to place the exclude. This is a screen shot of the apron that I would like to remove.http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/43013.jpgThanksJoe w.

This is just a guess, but I think this apron is part of the AFCAD data (as that also creates visual scenery now). So I am not sure if a normal exclude (or a VTP exclude) will help here then. Guess you have to wait for AFCAD2 here (or you can cover it by a new polygon).

I think Arno is right on this one. I have excluded all the airport ( even had trees where the rwy used to be) and the Apron was still there. I used ground2k4 to remove the airport and the apron was still there. I removed the grass area around the rwy, the rwy was still there In short ...... Nothing I try even touches this. Oh well....I'll find a wayThanksJoe W.
