Concrete and Asphalt in AFCAD aprons

Recommended Posts

Has anyone else noticed that AFCAD aprons that are made of asphalt look exactly like those made of concrete? I'm trying to force a little realistic variation into my airport by varying the apron materials, but so far no luck. I thought I was going crazy for a while (and I may still be) but a little research lead me to the fact that the concrete.r8 and asphalt.r8 textures in the main FS texture folder appear to be the same image. However, altering the asphalt.r8 texture doesn't seem to have any affect on the aprons that are set to "asphalt" using AFCAD 2.11. Any idea what gives? I'm a little stumped.thanks,

Bill,Look to see if Lee isn't referencing the Taxi_xxxx files in your fs9 texture folder.I think the *.r8 files are for backward compatibility and Microsoft is trying to stay away from them and using DX1/DX3 files.W. Sieffert

You're a genius! Somehow I overlooked that the r8 textures aren't what he's using at all... AFCAD references the taxi_ textures for everything, aprons included. So now all I have to figure out is how I got my taxi_asphalt and taxi_concrete textures to be the same. But I suspect it's because of a third-party addon I downloaded recently. But at least now I know why. Thanks!
