Wet runways

Recommended Posts

Guest Galant VR4

Forgive me if this question has been asked a thousand times but I found nothing in my search. Is there a way to copy the runway textures from FS9 to another folder and give them a reflective shine like some of the aircraft have? I would like to do this becasue on some days I only fly in rainy weather and I would like to be able to switch to these "wet runway" textures. I dont know how it would look, so if anyone has done this before, my question to you is did the runway look wet or did it just look bad?ThanksRegan

I've noticed that the water reflects sunlight, so maybe you can make other textures reflect also. However, I'm not sure if this is a product of the textures, or if it has something to do with the physical characteristics of the water. What I mean is tht when Microsoft "made" the water, they could have built something into it allowing it to use reflective textures, whereas when they made the runways, they didn't bother. When we make solid objects for FS, we can set certain attributes, like whether it uses transparent parts or a reflective texture. It is important to decide which since the textures use the alpha channel for both of these. So, maybe there isn't a possibility that your runway can be reflective.Best thing is to try. Use a super-shiny metalic texture, and then see if it reflects or not.- Martin

You can find in the library some effects that will give the wet look. They are linked to the AC smoke system. I wish there were some way of conditionally launch the effects but don't know any besides the smoke system.Jos

Is that the effect that some of the POSKY 747's use? If so, how do we make that effect smaller? On my machine it looks like the plane is engulfed in smoke.
