Question about excluding scenery

Recommended Posts

Guest JacoD

Hey scenery guru's!I recently installed a pretty decent Dubai airport terminal into my FS2004, but the designer didn't exclude the default FS2004 terminal building and tower... now the tower is bleeding through the new scenery's tower - I think I need to create an exclusion BGL file to get rid of the stock FS2004 main terminal building and tower... how do I go about doing this? LOLHere's a pic of what I mean:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/54726.jpgAny help appreciated!Jaco du PreezProject Openskyjake@projectopensky.com[a href=http://www.projectopensky.com" target="_blank]Project Opensky Homepage[/a].: ASUS P4C800E-DLX : P4 2.8Ghz 800MHz FSB Hyper Threading : 1GB PC3200 DDR RAM : ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB DDR : Maxtor 200GB SATA HDD :.

Okay I ran the util after I got my co-ordinates using FSConnect - when I run BGLComp.exe against the XML file it produces the following error:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/54732.jpgAny ideas? Here is the XML code from ExcBuilder:<?xml version="1.0"?>EDIT: I think I need to install the MSXML too - http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...16692&mode=fullWill give this a try and see againJaco du PreezProject Openskyjake@projectopensky.com[a href=http://www.projectopensky.com" target="_blank]Project Opensky Homepage[/a].: ASUS P4C800E-DLX : P4 2.8Ghz 800MHz FSB Hyper Threading : 1GB PC3200 DDR RAM : ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB DDR : Maxtor 200GB SATA HDD :.

Cool, I've installed the MSXML MSI package with the parser and now it worked! But the BGL file doesn't seem to exclude anything? LOL I'll play around some more and see what I can get accomplised...Jaco du PreezProject Openskyjake@projectopensky.com[a href=http://www.projectopensky.com" target="_blank]Project Opensky Homepage[/a].: ASUS P4C800E-DLX : P4 2.8Ghz 800MHz FSB Hyper Threading : 1GB PC3200 DDR RAM : ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB DDR : Maxtor 200GB SATA HDD :.

Jaco,Towers are placed in FS2004 as library objects and not as generic buildings. The terminal will be placed as a generic building in many cases where detailed buildings are not available. The following line must be included in your xml file: excludeLibraryObjects = "TRUE"Be careful not to make your exclude areas to big, normally the reference points for are quite close to the object itself.Johan van Wyk

Johan,Thanks for that nice tip! Gary Hayes made me some exclusion scenery though, so all my struggling was for nothing ;-)Thanks to Gary!Jaco du PreezProject Openskyjake@projectopensky.com[a href=http://www.projectopensky.com" target="_blank]Project Opensky Homepage[/a].: ASUS P4C800E-DLX : P4 2.8Ghz 800MHz FSB Hyper Threading : 1GB PC3200 DDR RAM : ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB DDR : Maxtor 200GB SATA HDD :.
