Gmax animation

Recommended Posts

Guest stevenroyals

I've made a windsock which moves using the animation keys in Gmax. When I install it in FS the windsock does not move. Any ideas how I can get it to move? Thanks Steve

Hi BobNo, I havn't done any of the above.I have three objects, the post, the sock and the part where the sock attaches onto the post. The post will not be animated but the other two parts will be. Do I name them 'tick18_sock' and 'tick18_attach?Thanks for your help BobSteve

Yep tick18_sock and tick18_attach should do the job. As your pole is already static you don't have to worry about that anymore.

Hi ArnoIt doesn't work what else should I do? I made a simplified version ie one stationary post and a rectangular box which I animated and called it 'tick18_box'. I called the post 'box01'. The animation worked ok in gmax. I saved and then exported it into the sim. It appeared ok but did not move.ThanksSteve

Hi Steve,That is strange. Let me think.Did you use anything special during export in MakeMDL? Also which version of MakeMDL are you using? Have you tried the version that came with the MakeMDL SDK from MS. I use that one without problems.

The version number is this File Version 8.0.0.10912 I also use Middle man so i don't have to write the coordinates each time I export. Perhaps this is the problem.Steve

Could very well be that MiddleMan is the problem. I tried it once and it didn't look useful for scenery design to me. I would advise you to try the latest version of MakeMDL alone.

Hi ArnoI got rid of the Middle man program but It still is not working. I've updated the Makemdle file which I got from MS. I assume this is the most recent one. I also removed the Middle man program. Makemdl now saves the last coordinates entry so it must be an improvement on the loast version I had. I made a simplified version ie one stationary post and a rectangular box which I animated and called it 'Tick18_box'. I called the post 'box01'. The animation worked ok in gmax but not in FS. Any ideas on what the problem is?ThanksSteve
