Macros or API's for grass shacks, thatched roof huts?

Recommended Posts

Guest Captain Barfbag

I've looked around for any building macros for thatched roofs, grass huts or other structures that might be useful around tropical or third-world airports. No luck at all in my searches. I've downloaded a few sceneries that have these structures, and I'm wondering if someone could reply with a file name for some of these.Thanks.

I'm using Airport for Windows. How do I find XML Library objects?

If you look at my site you will find a set of macros there that call the default autogen objects of Fs2004. You will find the two huts mentioned above there as well. You should be able to use these macros without problems in AFW.http://www.scenerydesign.org/modules.php?n...wdownload&cid=2

I suppose I should have said, "I'm using Airport for Windows and FS2002." It sounds like XML is new for 2004. Since I'm seeing these buildings in FS2002, I assume they came from somewhere else. Any ideas? Thanks.

OK, you are using Fs2002, then this is no option. As you have seen them in other sceneries those designers have probably designed the objects themself. If they have not shared the macros afterwards (and you didn't find any in the file library), then there is no easy way to use them. You would have to design your own objects then.

Jorge Christian Pagano did a series of 19 thatched buildings a while ago. Perhaps they are not in the AvSim Library, but can probably be found at Simviation or possibly at Raimundo Taburet's site.Search for Thatched02.ZIP (although I don't know if there was ever a Thatched01.ZIP - I shall have to ask him.)The package contains a wide variety of apis representing thatched buildings in Polynesia and Indonesia:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/58112.jpgin the Bahamas:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/58115.jpgIrish cottages:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/58117.jpgand even African and Dominican examples:http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/58118.jpgAs you can see, he covers a lot of ground. It is probably advisable to convert the textures to DXT for better performance.Best regards.Luis
