significance of default aircraft texture file names

Recommended Posts

The 737-400 has texture files with suffixes _C, _d, _L, and _T. Do these suffixes give a clue to the function of the files? Some of the repaints I have downloaded work quite well without all 4 of these files. Am I missing something? The other default aircraft seem to have similar but not identical suffixes.Any hints?

_C is the cockpit texture_d is the damage texture_L is the night-lighted fuselage area_T is the fuselage textureAssuming they are all the same, you can put a copy of the _C and _L textures in the FS2002/texture folder then delete the rest. With about 40 737 repaints, I saved about 50 MB this way. If one is different -- for example the night lights on a cargo aircraft won't have the window lights -- you can just leave that one in the specific 737texture folder. All of the default aircraft follow a pattern similar, if not identical to this.
